“Wonderful experience”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 5, 2012

We spent 3 wonderful nights at the Salamanca Inn. We could not fault the staff, they were very friendly and happy to help with any questions or problems. The restaurant was lovely and the food divine. The room was spacious with the bedroom upstairs with a great loft window which you could look out from the bed. There was a computer with internet access included. There was plenty of room with a massive ensuite with a spa bath big enough to soak in. The shower as huge. Location was brilliant literally at the end of the road was the famous Salamanca Markets. We are going back to Hobart next year and will definitely stay here again. Highly recommend.

Room Tip: Pay the extra for the spa room it was worth it.

Did a very late booking (a few mins before arrival) and was really pleased with the choice we had made. Reception was very professional and friendly. Parking provided on site and secure, rooms were large, with computer in the rooms (we booked two rooms), and were exceptionally clean and spacious.

Location is great - very short walk (about 2 mins) to range of cafe's and pubs etc.

Some rooms have views onto parking lot - but hey, that's not a real problem at all.

Cant' fault this place - what a pleasure!

Room Tip: If you want a view, you may need to ask about this when booking.

Stayed 2 nights at this place on a short getaway from Melbourne. Booking and email contact was excellent beforehand, and on arrival, staff were friendly yet efficient. Room was spacious and very comfy, with a lovely king size bed. Room service also available as well as FREE in-house movies. Dined in restaurant first night - food was delicious with a nice touch being a self serve salad AND vege bar. Easy checkout was assisted by a direct taxi phone at reception. Will definitely stay here again.

4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 18, 2012

My husband and I stayed at Salamanca Inn for the 1st 4 days of our holiday in Tassie. We wanted to be in the heart of the waterfront precinct, but without the noise. We stayed in the executive spa apartment. Modern, spacious and a good but compact functional kitchen (2 of us were a bit squishy). We only made 1 full evening meal, so no biggy. The hotel knew it was our 25th Anniversary and arranged a bottle of champagne for us. We were delighted. On our first night we arrived late, so we had a seafood chowder delivered to our room for $17. The "Best" chowder we had during our whole Tasmanian holiday! We highly recommend it. While in Hobart, the temperatures were incredibly high. The upstairs bedroom had an ingenious auto opening window that would let hot air escape and cool air flow in. So at night, we left it open to the stars. There was quite a bit of drunken echoing from the Iris pub down on the corner every night we were there. It would go on till the early hours of the morning. But should the window be closed, it was relatively sound proof. Bathroom was spacious and well stocked with toiletries, great spa bath and wonderful 'rain' shower. Huge TV's both in the living area and bedroom. Staff were very friendly and assisted with little things like ice & a bucket for our drinks while travelling. We felt very much at home. The Salamanca market was right on our doorstep which was handy. Our car was parked undercover and out of the weather. We had a really pleasant stay. I think this is a great place for families and couples. You are in walking distance to Hobart CBD, great restaurants at your doorstep, not to mention the Lark Distillery tasting bar. There is plenty to do on foot here, so location was superb.

We stayed at Salamanca Inn for two nights in April while touring around Tasmania. incredible location, plenty of restaurants within 10 minutes walking distance. Rooms were clean and very comfortable. Plenty of space particularly in upstairs loft main bedroom.

Staff were very friendly both on the phone making a booking and checking in and out. The staff are a credit to the establishment.

On the negative side, 2nd bedroom is downstairs right next to the living area so once my kids went to bed we had to be incredibly quiet and actually retired to our bedroom (which has a good size TV as well). Upstairs room seems to get more noise from the street than the main living areas, woken by a drunk yelling abuse in the street at 3am but my kids downstairs slept through the noise. Overall not enough negatives about this place to tarnish the many positives.

If I ever come back to Hobart I would have no hesitation in staying here again.

Stayed at Salamanca Inn over Easter whilst in Hobart for a wedding. We got a good rate over a last minute website but would've been happy to pay full price.
We booked a queen suite that was spacious with a kitchenette and good size bathroom. We had our six month old and had plenty of room for his stuff and to have home on his blanket on the floor.
The only reason I have marked the room down a fraction is the aircon was quite loud. We kept it on during the day to cool the room down but had to turn it off at night due to the noise it made. We had nice weather but if it'd been hot it'd be a bit uncomfortable. The double windows kept out street noise and could open, so that might be an option.
Other than that, we'd have no problems staying here again or recommending it to others.
Location is great.....literally 50m out the front door to the markets on a Saturday.
