“Good location - very small shoe box room”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2013

Great Location - for shops and Market. Too far away from car park with all our luggage which was not mentioned on website. First off given the wrong directions by the receptionist, so had to drive back and get them again. There was no mention of a charge to park the car on the website so was surprised to be charged $15 per night. Room same shape as a shoe box. Clean, windows rattle and so did the door. Lisa the Bar tender was so friendly and helpful. Jimmy the piano player was terrific. We sat and listened for hours. He brought a wonderful light atmosphere to the place on Saturday night. A real high light for our stay.

Room Tip: Good location, but that is about all. I hear they are going to renovate, and l'm sure it's...

From the 1830s, this hotel retains much of an old-world charm. High ceilings, classy furniture and period fittings are offer a warm, welcoming feel.
Located near the corner of Murray and Macquarie (reputedly the only intersection in Australia to have an original stone building on each corner), it's in good company - and in a great location. The docks, Salamanca Market and the CBD are all an easy walk away.
To cap it all off, the staff are professional, courteous and attentive.
So, what could be wrong? Well, working heating, non-CRT TVs and a compendium would have been nice! To be fair, the hotel has just had a change of ownership, and the new crew is trying very hard to overcome the neglect if the old.
We would definitely come back, as what is now a very good hotel will surely only get better!
Make sure you have coffee at Jackman & McRoss - and do not miss dinner at the Boat Shed.

Dear UncleBeer,

Thank-you for taking the time to write a Review.

We are glad that you enjoyed your stay with us, in particular the old-world charm and professional, coureous and attentive staff.

Your point regarding change of ownership is correct. We are working hard at the property and standards will only improve. Your three specific points of heating, TV's and compendium are being addressed at the time of writing this message.

It is exciting times for us at Hadleys and we are looking forward to re-establishing the Hotel. We are happy to hear that you will be returning and we will look forward to welcoming you next time.

Thanks,
Hadleys Management.

Hadleys is in an excellent location for tourists, close to cbd, Salamanca and all the waterfront activities. The hotel has recently changed hands and after a minor mix up due to the previous owners the staff were great especially Rosie who went out of her way to not only fix the problem but looked after us for anything we needed help with the entire stay. The rooms and hotel are old world charm and very spacious, very different from your usual hotel. We will definitely be back to stay at the Hadleys and cant wait to see what the new owners bring to this beautiful hotel.

The good
*Great location
*Part of the ibis chain and are frequently discounted (which I took advantage of) which made staying here excellent value
* Quiet. I stayed here on a weeknight and was also given a room quite far from the street
* Decent sized room and firm bedding

The bad
* Interior could use an upgrade. I know it is heritage listed but the floors squeek and the carpets are old. No lights (just lamps)
* TV was old small and with bad reception
* Shower slide was coming off the rails

overall recommended because the good points are far more important to me than the bad points

The Hotel has only just recently changed ownership and we had a wonderful time at the Hadleys, from arriving to leaving the staff were great. The room was spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant was excellent loved both the food and decor. It was handy to the tourist sights of Hobart. We'll be back to stay at the Hadleys Hotel on our next visit to Hobart
