“Filthy toilet and poor cleaning”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed yesterday NEW

We stayed in Best Western Hobart on April 21,2015. The first surprise we found in our room is poop of some stranger left in our toilet. The water was brown and smelly, and it was really gross! Next surprise we had is dirty mugs with ancient stains. The last but not the least, the carpet in our room was full of spots of all colors. I had a hard time walking around our room trying to find my flat shoes with bear feet. For a clean and beautiful city like Hobart, this memory is too filthy. :(

Property is ok. Service from front desk staff inconsistent. Some staff very good a couple average.
No fresh milk offered for room, no car parking offered. Upon asking told there was a $10 charge but until I asked nothing forth coming.

Room Tip: Ask for fresh milk and ask about car parking as I did not receive any help with either.

This hotel was a short walk to the main shopping area and there are a number of places to eat nearby. There is a great 'in house' bar and grill with a varied menu, which was very handy. Our room was very clean and comfortable with all expected amenities, the bathroom was a little dated, with the shower over the bath. We would have liked a small lounge to sit on instead of having a desk and chair in the room, but understand that everyone has to be catered for. All the staff we encountered were fabulous, very helpful, and happy to offer advice on things to see and do. A full buffet breakfast was included in our accommodation tariff, and it was wonderful, lots of variety, everything you could possibly want. We did find the Hotel a little noisy, when someone was occupying the room above us we could hear every footstep and toilet flush from that room. We also found noise from the nightclub on the street below our room really disturbing on Friday and Saturday nights (until 4.30am) and there was also a lot of noise in the hallway outside our room some nights, lots of door slamming and loud voices, not the fault of the Hotel, just some very inconsiderate guests.

Room Tip: Perhaps a room at the front facing Bathurst Street might escape the noise of the nightclub

Great place to stay - very central - staff helpful - car park available - restaurant or bar menu to choose from - room service - virtually 24/7 service which meant food, drinks cold & hot available. Good if running late from business meetings.

Very clean, comfortable, and enjoyable.

Room Tip: good views from balcony

The shopping and business areas of Hobart were a quick stroll away from the hotel. The rooms were clean, with very comfortable beds. The bathrooms were a bit dated with the shower over the bath. There was plenty of hot water.
The rooms were a little noisy and we could hear muffled conversations from the neighbouring rooms.

A month ago we stayed at the Best Western Hotel in Hobart. It is only approximately 10 minutes to walk into town. The staff were extremely helpful and the rooms clean. I have to say the mattress and pillow were the best I have ever slept on anywhere. It was like being on a cloud. I know this sounds silly but you felt like you were floating. I will certainly stay there again.

Room Tip: We had a room at the front of the hotel but I am told a room at the rear overlooks the Derwent River...

Dear Magnificent2014,
Thank you for those kind words. Yes, our new pillowtop beds in all rooms are proving very, very popular; so pleased you slept well.

Had need for a quick overnight trip to Hobart. This hotel is placed reasonably central and a larger establishment than I expected. I cannot recall exactly but I think 4 or 5 Kim's to Harbour. Price was value for money. The room was spacious and clean, a king bed room. I found the pillows to be quite hard. The bathroom was quite dated and a little small, but also clean. The shower was over the Bath. Check in was smooth. The restaurant evening meal was delicious, with choices from a la carte or pizza menus. Breakfast we took the buffet, which was comparable to other hotels of this size. Cereal, juice, pastries and toast from choice of breads. Self serve coffee machine available.

Dear Louise W,
It's good to hear we were a good choice for your trip to Hobart. We are actually just 10 minutes walk to Salamanca and the dock. We'll show you the quickest route next time you are with us.
