“A lot of room for not a lot of money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 7, 2013

Its hard to get a sense of perspective on this Hotel - unassuming from the road it is a large multi storey motel set one road back from the wharf. After wandering down a relatively long hall way I opened the door to my one bedroom apartment. It was huge. Combined lounge kitchen, bathroom, separate toilet and a bedroom. It was a clean room - not luxurious but certainly well appointed. Quality toiletries, good linen, leather lounge, wall mounted flat screen television and split system air-conditioner (in lounge only, not bedroom - this may be an issue on a hot night). In the bathroom was a washing machine and dryer. The bedroom has small windows set at eye height and the lounge has a large window with a sliding door leading to a token balcony. Views are largely obscured by other buildings on the wharf side of the building. Two elevators service the Hotel and they can be a bit busy during peak check in and check out times. Breakfast was good with the cooked breakfast a good value buffet style set up.

In summary I found this Hotel a good value proposition close to many of the attractions Hobart has to offer. Worth considering.

Recently stayed here on a family holiday. 1 night at the beginning and 3 nights at the end. We had different experiences both stays so I will review separately.

First stay :1 night.
Travelling with family and unfortunately the 2 bedroom apartment was already booked so were put in two separate studio apartments. GOOD: Both very comfortable and clean. BAD : despite having 2 elderly frail people with us and several bags we were offered no help with our bags from our car or from reception to our rooms. Staff member on duty at the time was disinterested and then we were put on separate floors from each other instead of next to or at least on the same floor. Did concern me at the time as were coming back for 3 nights at the end of our trip.

Second stay at end of trip : 3 nights
Unfortunately 2 bed apartment was unavailable and were were put in 2 studio apartments. This time around I called in advance and insisted on both being next to each other and they were. I also went in ahead and grabbed a trolley to help with the bags remembering the first visit. The staff at reception were different and were very friendly and polite. Rooms were clean and comfortable and in the words of my MIL "best easy access/disabled bathroom she has had in all her travels". Staff were accommodating and helpful at all times.

I would recommend staying at this hotel as it is clean, comfortable and convenient. Unfortunately no porter service which I would recommend the hotel to get as it would be greatly appreciated.

We had a hotel room on the opposite side from the busy street, so it was lovely and quiet from traffic noise but there was no view. Ok with us as we only needed somewhere to sleep. Room was spacious and clean. Great location. Would stay again!

From start to finish this was a great experience! Friendly & courteous service at all timesn-from our booking thru to our departure. For us It was the last couple of days after motor-homing around Tassie. Nothing was any trouble for the great staff- as we wanted to stay close to the wharf & Hobart CBD on our last couple of nights we thought the size of the motorhome might have been a problem regarding parking- no problems at all. The hotel provided secure off-street parking which gave peace of mind while we could enjoy the nearby sights & use the laundery facilities before we flew home. Friendly & helpful staff - great service with a smile, made a nice end to our holiday. can't speak highly enough of the woolstore apartments! Most definitely be back!

I stayed 4 nights in a one bedroom apartment. For less than $200/night I got a spacious room that was well decked out. There have been comments about the look of the hallways and rooms, but honestly, how long would you spend in these areas anyway? The location is great and it is right behind the Grand Chancellor, where the rooms cost much more. Very handy to attractions and places to eat. I would stay there again. I was in room 1012, which was quiet. I did not have a car for the duration of my stay and it wasn't needed. After a 5 minute walk to Market street, I picked up a car at Avis and headed to the East coast for the rest of my stay in Tassie. I saved 4 days' car rental.

This property offers spacious apartment accommodation just a stone throw from the Fisherman's wharf with its wonderful array of restaurants. Stayed there with a golf group and we all enjoyed the extra space, the nice breakfast and friendly staff.

This hotel is in a great location, the rooms are thoughfully laid out and the staff are wonderful!

I wasn't sure what to think looking at the photo's but the rooms were well appointed with everything you could need. I stayed in both a 1 bedroom and a studio apartment, the 1 bedroom had a slightly nicer bathroom but the studio had much better beds. The bathroom issues were only aesthetic and were really very useable.

I was so impressed with the staff however who could not do enough to help me and the elderly relative I was travelling with.

We ordered room service a couple of times, the selection was good and everything was of fabulous quality.

The location is stellar, short walk down to Salamanca and the main part of town, where there are lots of fabulous restaurants and shops.
