“Nice enough”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 2, 2013 via mobile

Stayed in room 132 for a long weekend. The room was nice enough, a bit hard to watch TV from bed but some would say you shouldn't be doing that on holidays anyway! :-/ Plenty of space to move around and the room was well maintained. Also in a decent location with a short 5-10min walk to Salamanca and even closer to Constitution dock and the CBD.
Room 132 is a bit of a walk from reception and a pain to get to but it's hard to fault the hotel. Probably a 100m walk and if you have a car, add on another 50 to 100m depending on where you get a park.Yes, that's not really that far but when you just want to get to your room after a long day, it feels like an eternity.
We too had problems with noisy neighbours. I've never had to call reception about noisy neighbours so felt embarassed to do so but the noise was crazy and to the credit of reception they came knocking pretty quickly. The people in the room didn't answer the door but they were at least quiet after that. It sounded like people were doing gymnastics (no, not that variety) until the very early hours of the morning. The next night people were screaming and shouting and as they had access outside from their room (not the hallway side) they were out there shouting and laughing all night. I think the walls are too thin and the sound travels through the walls.
I would not risk it again so would say, if you value your sleep too, go elsewhere.

Phone in room didn't work, guests partying outside until after 3am had to request security twice, toilet uneven, smoke wafted into room our whole stay from other guests smoking in courtyard, receptionist unhelpful and unwilling to please! This was a one off stay as much prefer Wrest point casino.

I have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions with my family. The hotel is located within easy walking distance of the city centre and the historic attractions of Hobart. Although the hotel is housed in an old building, the facilities are modern and functional. The hotel is spotlessly clean with kitchen and laundry facilities in most rooms. Staff are friendly and helpful. Nearby you can eat at the famous Mures seafood restaurant or walk to Salamanca Place where there are numerous eating options. Around the corner is the historic Theatre Royal and the hotel is a short walk to the magnificent Botanical Gardens. Book early though as around Christmas and New year the hotel is full at this time.

Room Tip: The spa rooms are lovely. Spacious with a separate bathroom and laundry and excellent kitchen facili...

Apart from the very close proximity to Constitution Dock and Salamanca Market, the feature we most valued during our stay was the responsive and flexible attitude of all of the staff we encountered. Starting with accommodating our need for two rooms close together (for a weekend away for 5 women) through to arranging a last minute surprise birthday cake, we couldn't have asked for more. The rooms were spacious and comfortable but it was the warmth and generosity of the staff that really made this weekend a smooth and enjoyable visit.

Our stay here was very pleasent. The apartment we had was spacious with kitchen, fridge etc, lovely clean bathroom, washing machine and dryer.Very close to Hogs Breath and 5 min walk to Constitution Dock and many more restaurants and shops including Salamanka Markets. The restaurant served a lovely meal, no complaints all tasty and reasonably priced.Only complaint was parking was very full, but staff arranged for us to park in staff parking, so that was very considerate of them.Staff were very kind, we would definitely stay here again.

Have stayed at this establishment numerous times in the past. Still consistent with presentation, cleanliness of rooms, and service. Close to the city, Wharf and Salamanca Market. With Hogs Breath Café over the road as well which is handy. The only things I wish would suggest to improve on....parking. If you are planning on taking your vehicle out for the evening, good luck finding a park on your return. Beds are a little hard. And it would be great if you could accommodate a late check out for no extra charge like Rydges do as part of their loyalty program.
