“I loved this hotel!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

We had come from a raw experience elsewhere and had booked Fountainside over the internet so were a little concerned about the quality. However we neednt have worried. The hotel was wonderful. The room was spacious and to the point of luxurious considering the price. Locationwise it was a mere 3 minute walk to the waterfront. I would highly recommend this hotel and hope to return during my next Australia trip.

Room Tip: I cant imagine there would be a view of the waterfront from any of the rooms.

With thanks to the reviews on TA we stayed at Fountainside side for 2 nights in a king suite - room 51. Great start to our stay with a welcoming reception and answers to our questions re Salamance Market and local retail locations. The room we were directed to was superb, plenty of space, the most comfortable bed and pillows I have experienced in any hotel, the bathroom again a great size, mini bar at prices that tempt you to try everything given the great value. We decided to try the hotel restaraunt the first night, enjoyed the food and service so much returned again the next night. The menu offers a great range of meals, not pompous city style, just nice food and great value. They have a range of local wines priced around the $25 a bottle. The thing that really stood out to me is the friendly service from all staff, plenty of smiles and nothing too difficult. I can not recommend this hotel enough, they have got it right in my opinion, great location, great value and most importantly, great staff. Wish we could have stayed for longer, will just have to come back again soon.

We chose this hotel based on so many positive reviews for our first ever visit to Hobart. 3 nights weekend stay in March 2013. The great reviews were all spot on, and this gem of a hotel deserves all the accolades. The rooms are smart and absolutely spotless with towels thicker than carpets! It's very smart to set price levels for minibar and restaurant food at such reasonable levels - encourages use of all such amenities, and just an extra $10 on restaurant meal price if you prefer room service. We had breakfast 3 days and dinner on 2 of our 3 nights - better be hungry, they are very generous servings of excellent standard fare. No gourmet menu here, but top notch at what they do, and a very good bar and wine selection, again at very affordable prices. We were on 1st floor overlooking the busy roundabout, but like others said, the window insulation is excellent - zero traffic noise except for the occasional Harley-Davidson showing off. Blackout curtains no road noise and whisper-quiet aircon, so a great night's sleep in very comfy beds. They've got it ALL right, but what really adds the icing to the cake is their greatest asset of all - the amazingly friendly and efficient staff who really do make you feel that it's a pleasure to serve you. Top score all round, guys, and we look forward to another visit. Very Highly Recommended.

We stayed for five nights in February 2013.

In Room 52 we had a great view over the Domain. Clean, quiet comfortable room. Great sleep. No concerns over the local roundabout. Free and readily accessible parking.

Breakfast buffet is a great value at 11.80 per person. We also enjoyed an evening dinner at the restaurant and had a great meal.

Easy walk to the waterfront, and don't miss the Saturday Salamanca Market

Others have commented about the fair pricing of the in-room mini-bar. We heartily concur, and found prices even a bit lower than nearby bottle shops.

Highly recommended, and we would readily return.

Stayed for 2 nights in March 2013. Despite being by a busy road there was no noise at all and we slept very well. The king sized bed was also incredibly comfy, so much so that I found it difficult to drag myself out, despite having Hobart to explore!

Decor was very smart, bit like a business hotel and very clean. The room was also quite spacious. Fabulous water pressure in the shower too!

Location was excellent, only 5-10 mins walk to the dock area. And we were impressed by the free parking. All this for only $144/night, great value.

We also had breakfast there both days. At $11.80 it was reasonable value, a fairly standard hotel breakfast but well stocked.

We would be happy to stay again next time we're in Hobart.

Wonderful to get between the sheets after a day out and about.
Stayed here twice, a few days apart, and found the staff always friendly and helpfull.
Even though the hotel overlooks a busy round-a-bout the noise level was minimal, and sleep quality excellent.
Room 76 has a bidet addition to the toilet seat, making it a bit uncomfortable, but otherwise the bathroom was great.
The breakfast for $12 is a bargain, cereals, toast, eggs, bacon, beans, and tomatoes, good wholesome stuff. If you live by the saying, " breakfast like a king, lunch like a prince etc," then this breakfast is where to start your day.
Free parking is close, and the hotel is within an easy walk to the harbour and the central part of the city.
A great stay, thank you to the staff.
