“Immaculate, central, excellent staff”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 3, 2012

Fabulous huge room with huge bed for such a reasonable price... quite rare in Hobart! Felt very luxurious and views were gorgeous. Cheap wifi. Staff went above and beyond to make sure I had a good stay. First night was on second floor and I found the traffic noise disturbing (I am a very light sleeper). I called reception and asked if there were any other rooms available. Unfortunately they were fully booked so the answer was no. Five minutes later reception called me back and offered me a room higher up for the following night. I was so impressed that they had taken the time to check my booking and see if it was possible to help in some way. So, the next day I was moved to a room on the 9th floor where it was extremely quiet and the view was even better!

Room Tip: The higher rooms have less traffic noise

For the$140 per night we were astounded at the opulence of our room, recently renovated that had a very inviting and expensive feel, comfy bed, large flat tv and a mini bar that prices you could afford. ( room311), quiet although on a roundabout.
Only two minutes walk to the city centre and five max to the wharf frontage.
The staff could not be more helpful. We liked it so much decided to return for one night a week later, not realizing that the annual bike tour toy drive was on and not a room to be had. Megan from reception rang around relentlessly for 30 minutes to secure us a room in Richmond, then proceeded to copy driving instructions, with a smile and a no trouble at all demeanor.
Also good value was the $11.90 all you can eat full breakfast.
Don't let the drabbish outside fool you this is a very classy and friendly hotel in a great position.

We stayed at the Fountainside at the beginning and at the end of our trip to Tasmania and enjoyed both visits.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful. For our first stay we were on the 7th floor with a great view and for the return, we were on the 2nd floor. Both rooms were spotless and well equipped. The guest laundry was much appreciated.
We ate dinner in the dining room and were very happy with the food and the service. It was interesting to be able to choose our own bottle of wine from the wine rack - the wine prices were extremely reasonable.
The location is very convenient - we walked to the city centre easily.

We decided to stay here for 4 nights when visiting Hobart. We absolutely loved the stay. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly. The room was well presented with access to some Foxtel channels. The bed was quite comfortable. The minibar was cheap (which blew us away) with everything at retail prices!! Free parking is also provided if you are driving around Tassie. I had one meal at the restaurant. The food was delicious and the salad bar was included when ordering a main. The only complaint I had was that there was no free WiFi available, but that was a minor setback. I thoroughly recommend this hotel.

I couldn't fault this hotel. I arrived with a tour group and they couldn't have been more organised. They had us too our rooms with our luggage in record time. The staff were very friendly, the room was clean and the food was delicious and although they were serving a crowd of us it was served freshly cooked and piping hot.

Great price and great location. Easy walk to Salamanca Market and lovely places to eat, A3 runs from airport to front door, easy to navigate to anywhere. Had everything we needed, great beds, kitchenette, free parking and plenty of tourist info on hand. Thanks to all the fantastic staff for everything, not forgetting the ladies who made sure our room was spotless everyday.

Wonderful service. We stayed one night and on the checkout day our flight was in the evening. So after checking out as we wanted to spend a couple of hours walking around the waterfront and Salamanca (all within walking distance) we asked if we could keep our car parked in the hotel area. They graciously agreed. When we returned about 2pm to collect our car, being tired I sat for a bit in their reception/bar area. They allowed us to use the coffee/ tea making facilities for free. Very thoughtful.

Re the room. There is a little traffic noise but quite muted. Room was modern, clean and spacious. The exterior is definitely dated.

Room Tip: The rooms at higher level are quieter
