“My favourite cafe in Hobart”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 1, 2012

I love everything about this place. I have been here on quite a few occasions having dined in once with my fiance and 1 year old daughter. There are no menu's as such although there is a large blackboard on the wall, staff can also read it out to you if you wish. I had the taleggio and preserved lemon baked eggs which was delivered to our table by the chef. Nice touch. What can i say runny eggs perfectly cooked and packed full if flavour. Yum! my daughter was given a toy to play with and although a small place we felt comfortable up the back on the round table. The best coffee in town..i often walk up here even though its out of the way a bit in West Hobart ( i don't drive). All the bread is baked in house and there are various types for sale we love the wholemeal sourdough. If you haven't yet been to the Pigeon hole don't delay. You may have to wait at busy periods as its so popular and they don't take bookings.

“Call this coffee?”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed December 21, 2011

I visited 3 times recently. On each time the coffee was possibly THE weakest and most tasteless I've ever experienced. My cappuccinos were really just warmed milk with the faintest hint of coffee flavor. Obviously there's a market for weak coffee as the place was packed on each occasion and regulars swear by the place. To each their own.

Food was great each time, though.

Service was remote and unengaged. I felt like I was trespassing. Overall not a good experience.

“A perfect start to the day!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2011

This great little cafe is simple and unpretentious, with awesome coffee and a large selection of freshly baked breads, it is the perfect start to the day. Also, the staff are very friendly and hospitable.

“Limited .”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed November 15, 2011 via mobile

We visited this cafe after reading various reviews but were alittle disappointed. It copes well with limited space - staff were helpul and efficient but menu rather limited and not everything on the menu, was available. Coffee was very good but probably not worth the walk up from Sallamanca Place.
