“Noodling”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed February 24, 2013

We stayed at the hotel just across the way which made this experience even better. We watched a short video on the history of mining, followed by a cutting demonstration and then a short tour through a mine/underground home. Fantastic. Great educational tour with the bonus of cooling down on a hot day! The tour finished off in their little gallery that offered an array of choices with all budgets kept in mind. Everyone was so friendly and helpful! Love my opals! So if you are looking to spend 15$ or $50,000 then stop in. The staff will gladly help you in your choice explaining the varieties along the way. And remember if you like it then that's all that matters! And don't forget to stop at the local public noodling site and have a go at finding your own opals! Cheers

“Wow this place is a must start place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 10, 2012

I needed to get a replacement Opal for my wifes ring and spoke with Martin at the Radeka and he recommended the Umoona as the best place to go for vaklue and vaiety of stones. Anyway i went in just expecting to go into a shop and an hour later I was still looking around the fansttic exhibits. Be it Aboriginal culture , or the history of Opal-the Dog proof fence-the Umoona Museum (which is FREE-extra for guided tours BTW) has it all. When i finally got to the shop I was welcomed and immediately made to feel that a i was dealing with excellent knowledge and that the owner wanted to give me a deal to be happy with-not like so many places where they just see what they can get away with. He tirellessl;y worked and found the most ideal stoine and arranged to fit it and collect that afternoon all for a great price-my wife loves me more for it-so thank you to the Umoona-great place.

“Beautiful Opals”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 18, 2012

Excellent short film followed by opal cutting demonstration and then tour of mine and underground home. The shop has a variety of jewellery across a varied price range. The staff extremely helpful in trying to match a pair of opal earrings to that of an opal necklace bought in 2001. They succeeded much to my delight.
