“The best animal interaction I've found so far.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I love a wildlife park where you can really interact with the animals. This is the best I've experienced so far in Australia. Everywhere you walked, animals were present out in the open. For the $20 entry, I handfed different Kangaroos (including a joey who popped out of a mothers pouch), waterfowl, emus, bandicoots, potoroos, and more. Even a picture (with my own camera) petting a koala was free. Just a great experience.

“Great Day Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

During our first weeks in Australia, we enjoyed a few day trips from Adelaide and Clealand was one of those trips.

This place has a real feel of honesty and "in touch with nature" about it. We felt welll away from others and as though we were experiencing our own private park.

There were a number of animals who were tame enough to eat from our hands and the best treat was being able to cuddle a Koala (no additional cost) and talk to its handler.

Would recommend this trip to anyone staying in the region.

“Excellent close up interaction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

Unlike a zoo, Cleland has the majority of its animals in large open areas and you can walk right up to them ans feed them if you like (food available at reception, only $3 for a big bag).
The kanagroos are great, are happy to be hand fed and even endured my 2yo niece's petting.
The emus are a bit intimidating, but will still eat out of your hand!
The opportunity to get right up close to a koala is brilliant (although actually holding one is a $30 extra charge) and the little poteroos and bandicoots that are 'free range' in the entire park are so cute! The bird life is amazingly colourful and varied too. In short, it's a really enjoyable place.

Cleland also has a voucher in the Adelaide version of the Entertainment Book for 25% off entry prices, which is nice.

“Worth a visit”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed November 5, 2012

I think it would be very busy in summer, slightly quieter when we visited. Photo opportunity with a koala and very tame Roo's to hand feed.

“Excellent wild park”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 31, 2012

We do not visit zoos since we feel that the residents are not living in their natural environment. That is not the case with Cleland. The area for the animals including red kangaroos, wallabies, emus, koalas, and others is large and in natural settings. Food is available for purchase to feed the kangaroos and wallabies. If you just walk into an area and stand, the animals will slowly approach. The picture time with the koalas is a money grab with most of the koalas sitting/sleeping in an open hut next to the long line of people waiting for a picture. While walking we heard and located a koala up in a tree in another area. With a lot of footpaths, the open areas are general free to roam. Just watch for the droppings in the grass. Some areas are not accessible with strollers or wheelchairs.
