This is going to be a mixed bag of a report .The night was called " Dancing Under the stars " BUT we were basically in a white tent /marquee with uneven plastic walkways & nothing but 2 lots of table decorations of balloons & a few large gold stars suspended from the ceiling - the Christmas atmosphere was VERY much lacking. My husband & I attended with all of our staff for our end of year/Christmas function. The food was pretty good - 1st course started off with a very small mixed plate of entrees = a nice tiny cheese tart, aka mini quiche,a pretty tasteless chicken terrine & a very tiny piece of roast lamb with a very bland hummous dip on top,,Next was a choice of chicken or beef - I am sure glad I said the chicken. All of our group who got the beef with green beans, said the pepper sauce was really over powering & way too hot for them. Some of the beef dishes on our table looked medium & some looked rather rare aka very pink. The Chicken I got was really yummy & had asparagus &,a potatoe bake & it was really good.Sweets was a buffet - a great selection of 5 cold & 1 hot dish BUT this was extremely ly very under catered for with the volume of people.IF you were not up in the line early then you only had a very limited choice. That sucked big time.Cheeses & greens were good BUT you had to ask for knives to cut the cheese any time someone in your group went up to the table & THEN if you left the small cheese plate on your table while you got up to dance the staff would try to pinch it ! You could NOT leave your table without glasses & food disappearing & that is crazy from 11pm when you have paid to be there until midnight . For heavens sake give your customers what they paid for & pay your staff for an extra 30 minutes ! The function ran from 7.30 > midnight & was supposed to cater for a wide range of age groups BUT the music on the night was a live band called Velvet who seem to mainly cater for the younger age group & their music was really Cr---- ( many people on other tables also complained ) & they mostly catered for the 20 year olds. Our group DO like music of all sorts BUT this band just didn't seem to hit the beat on the night,They started playing good music that catered to a wider age group at 11.35pm - pity it only lasted for 20 /25 minutes. I WAS very impressed with the amount of food & drinks staff during the night as anytime you wanted refills of juice, water or wine on your table a staff member was NOT far away BUT it peed all of us off when the staff started trying to clear our glasses between 11.15pm > 11.30pm. when we were on the dance floor. We had to make sure we left someone behind to guard our full glasses/drinks.They even tried to clear one glass that was full when we are saying NO - do NOT take it - He is coming back & we had to be rather forceful in saying it.The drinks package is paid for until midnight BUT they clear ALL bottles of wine be they full or 1/2 full at 11.45pm ! We literally had to almost sit on our glasses to stop them grabbing them from under us.IF a drinks package is from 7.30pm > midnight then don't try clearing our drinks from 11.15pm ! The night cost us $100 per person & we have received way better elsewhere over the years.Surely they could make a way better effort re decorations in what is basically a white tent with plastic walkways on grass - AND only 2 lots of balloons on each table ! The inside toilets during the evening also left a lot to be desired.I told staff how bad they were 2x during the night BUT in 4 hours they did not improve, obviously no cleaning staff are rostered on at night even though they had well over 500 people attending a function PLUS 2 separate functions inside Ayers house..There was a serious slip hazard with wet floors.the toliets stank, had run out of paper towel, had paper & other rubbish all over the floor BUT no staff came & cleaned it up from 7.30pm until 11.30pm that I saw.Was it a good night ? Well the food was pretty good,we had a great group of people with us,The band was Cra--,The armosphere was sh-- & we paid $100 to eat in a tent & had to go to dirty toilets. We will NOT be back & I seriously suggest other work places look elsewhere for their staff Christmas functions because Ayers house leaves a hell of a LOT to be desired..
