“Noisy neighbours”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

Stayed at the mantra last weekend, and was very impressed with everything, staff and room were beyond my expectations. But sadly our stay was ruined due to very loud music and noisy party like behaviour coming from our neighbours, the music got so loud we had to complain to reception, This behaviour continued for our entire stay, I understand staff cannot be held accountable for who they let into the rooms, But if a noise compaint is made i feel they need to be evicted, Hotel rooms are not for hosting parties, And as seen in the lift there was copious amounts of alcohol being taken up to rooms, By loads of younger guests who showed no respect to the others staying in the hotel, why is this tolerated ????.

Great modern well equipped hotel. Having stayed in almost all the major hotels in the city I would have to rate this as one of the best. Excellent modern facilities and close to the main bar area of the city. Parking is a problem at busy times otherwise no complaints!

Mantra on Hindmarsh Square offers great value for money:
- modern, clean rooms with separate living room and kitchenette facilities
- central location - short walk to famous Rundle street with endless shopping and going out opportunities
Definitely the best option in Adelaide CBD.

This was my second stay here, and I was disappointed.
The apartment hotel has been rebranded under the Mantra group since my last stay in 2007 and the standard has not been maintained.
The rooms are looking tired and the kitchenette appliances are beyond their best. The kitchenette is pokey. My ration of 15x25 cm dishcloth was miserly and impractical. The daily room service staff did not clean my kitchen properly each day meaning I had to do the dishes each day before cooking.
I probably won't stay here again.

Room Tip: Ask for a room on the high floors for lower noise level.

Stayed at the Mantra on a Friday night, so we could go to a work party in town. Hotel only has a $25 valet parking option. While $25 is a decent price for Valet we decided to park on street out the front. Which after 6pm was free. Checkin was straightforward and quick. We got a Studio room on the 6th floor, non park view, but the room was a good size for a studio, and managed to have area next to the bed with a lounge. Kitchenette facilities were a nice bonus, with a microwave, fridge, kettle etc. A very small balcony off the room, but with the view, not going to spend a lot of time out there. Everything was clean and functional. There aren't any real facilities like a pool at the hotel, so worth keeping that in mind. There are better hotels in Adelaide, if you are intending to spend time in your hotel, but if its just a room to sleep in your after this is a good option as long as price is right.

Room Tip: If you can, get a park view. View is over nice park, and faces out to Adelaide Hills.

I booked into the Mantra for four nights. I checked out after two. The cost was $384 per might and frankly it was not worth it. The rooms need a freshen up - well used is how my too felt with the bed well passed its use by date.
The Mantra does not have Much going for it.

I stayed there for one night with my wife on our 22nd wedding anniversary, Adelaide was busy that weekend so we accepted the $300 bill for 1 night (breakfast included). The room was smallish but tidy, the microwave had crumbs from the previous tenant in it, only one light in the bathroom worked (on a 36 degree day the only way you could see yourself properly in the mirror was with the room warmer on). The air conditioner was off when we got in, so we set it to 15 degrees to try to get comfortable, the coolest the room got was 27!!! We were in a sweatbox. Queen size bed was acceptable due to the size of the room (815) but we only got 3 pillows, so much for watching TV in bed or getting a comfy nights sleep. Breakfast was a farce, the eggs were cold, the bacon was cold, the coffee was in a thermos style jug and tepid (you could order a proper coffee if you were prepared to pay extra for it, I did and it was good). The staff were fine and all working hard. You had to pay for broadband. All in all a disappointment, but the company I was with made up for it.
