Only had a two night stay second time around, the Hotel is starting to show it's age and deluxe room overlooked a laneway.
Thought there could have been better value somewhere else although the Hotel is walking distance to Rundle Mall, Hindley St, and Festival Theatre & Restaurants.
Staff were excellent and extremely polite, would probably stay again.

Room Tip: We were on the 6th floor and the room was very quiet, lower floors may experience late night noise f...

Nice hotel in a good position. My wife calls it "shabby chic". Bustling foyer cafe/bar frequented by the local business population. Good rooms though we were given one next to the lifts and overlooking an internal walled quadrant with a generator. I wanted to move but was overruled as the boss liked the sound of the fountains below.

However, on the first night when getting out of the bath the grab handle came a way from the wall and my wife banged her arm. It shook her up and left her with a nasty bruise. It could have been much worse if she had fallen out of the bath onto the marble floor. I duly reported the incident. What really annoyed me was that having reported the matter (it was duly repaired the next day) no representative of the hotel had the courtesy to contact my wife with an apology or concern as to her well being. A complimentary glass of pop would have been a nice gesture but not so much as "How's your arm Mrs?" Very poor management etiquette .I don't suppose we will be back in Adelaide but if we were it would not be to the Sebel Playford.

Room Tip: I guess at the front of the hotel as the side and inner rooms have poor rooms.

Staff are extremely condescending. I'm a well dressed, frequently travelled young woman and they spoke to be like I was some troglodyte that have never stayed in a hotel before. Even after half smile and intense eye contact saying I knew, she continued to act like that.

Room itself was nice, high ceilings give the impression of spaciousness and the decor is fine. Everything is very mismatched though, like they looked at some 90s design book for tacky large housing estates. Mauve walls with gold swirly plated mirrors? Then a classic marble bathroom? Then a traditional material padded bedhead?

Complaints re: room, no basic amenities provided. Just shampoo, conditioner and body lotion and 2 cake of soap. No shower gel, not even cotton buds. Too bad if a friend dropped by or wanted to freshen up; they would be forced to share soap with you. Obviously no razor or toothbrush..

Room has an adequate mini bar, comes with a price booklet with no prices (?). Desk is too high and covers power points for mac user (they need to be aware that a large portion of people are mac users).

Gym was okay, quite outdated with useless equipment that isn't adjustable. Plenty of cardio equipment and good free weights but random weights missing so can't use pairs. Inadequate space to actually use free weights. Gym is 24 hours which is great. No smaller hand towels only large towels so it's difficult to have somewhere to sit in when using the cardio equipment.

Room service is terrible. I called both days for breakfast, missed breakfast the first day because their phone just rang out and they were "busy". Second day it rang out twice. Breakfast was horrible, over poached eggs, poor coffee and weird pasty choices (who wants a baguette with nothing to spread on it?). Spinach was oily to the point where it was inedible, yoghurt was pre packed like what you'd give you kids to go to school with.

Check was was the low point, extremely rude and unhelpful young woman named Samantha. Chip on her shoulder, nothing was said with a smile and she back chatted to me when I asked if she could hurry things along a little as I was in a bit of a rush sorry. When getting change Alyssa (the manager) referred to a $10 note as a "jew". That's disgusting, I don't find it particularly offensive but how was she to know I'm not Jewish? Not an appropriate term to use especially in front of guests.

Concierge called taxi (none line up), took forever and when I queried if it would be easier to get one on the main road he just said probably. It was a 30m walk, they could have offered to hail me one (like every 5 star hotel) rather standing behind this electronic "service box" being unhelpful.

Make things worse they ask what newspaper when want when checking in and then charge you for it when checking out. I actually don't think this has ever happened to me even in a 3 star hotel...

Interconn is such a better hotel.

Restaurant was pretty good and well priced, doesn't really suit a 5 star hotel having a beer garden out front though.

short one night stay. Room rather poor, partly rennovated but old curtains and old bed.
My room was very dark, on the second floor against a building. Bathroom very simple and rather cheap equipment, needs rennovating.
Concierge service very friendly and efficient. Reception service correct but no recgnition for accor members. Good for one night stay but not for long stay.
Did not use bar or restaurant facilities so cannot comment.

I'm not sure this review will be of much use to anybody, but I just wanted to say that I met my wife at this hotel, in May 2000! (not March 2012). We are now happily married with two daughters. I was feeling nostalgic about the place and felt the need to write this down here! I obviously have very fond memories of it (was a Radisson hotel then) and would love to go back one day if possible.
Good location, near the river and the golf course is walking distance away too.

We stayed here on a Friday night to see Norah Jones. Only paid $135 as a Secret Hotel deal. The room was very good, with double glazing, marble bathroom, heavy door and complimentary Advertiser paper (though I had to ask for it and it was not delivered first time in the morning).
We went down to the basement to check out the pool and gym, though we did not use them. Both looked good though the indoor pool reeked of chlorine (probably a good thing in a public pool). Would have got five stars but for - charging for wifi ($12.50 for 2 hours!); big problems with our breakfast (though the dinner was superb but very expensive for Adelaide). It was a hot day and the air conditioning in the reception was always chilled nicely.

We're sometimes tempted to try somewhere new in Adelaide, but invariably end up a little disappointed and then resolve to just stay at the Sebel next time. It really is a consistently good hotel, especially if you don't want to chance a bad experience. The staff are attentive, professional and friendly and the rooms always spotlessly clean. Beds are comfy and the rooms fairly spacious (although some are bigger than others). Pity wifi isn't included, it feels like a bit of a rip off having to pay. Breakfast is AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING, you can't do better, but absolutely make sure you book or you might miss out. We ordered deserts to the room and the banana split deconstructed was out of this world.

Room Tip: Higher level rooms are quieter, remember that some rooms are larger than others so enquire about thi...
