I am going to buck the trend here guys, but hear me out.
I ended up here because the city hotels I normally stay at were booked out because of the police games.

I agree that the hotel is in a great location all be it the sleazy part of Hindley Street.
If you are new to Adelaide and do not feel comfortable in a strip bar location, maybe you consider another part of the city, the hotel sits one door from an adult book and novelty shop and three doors from on of many strip joints. I have to say though it does not concern me but its worth mentioning. The hotel is a well maintained “oldish” facility that although very clean, does need a refurbishment. I am not saying the fixtures and fitting are damaged but they do show wear and the beds (double not queen) are very tired.

This brings me to my gripes, the front desk staff in as far as my most recent stay (4 nights) were stiff and cold, unable to have a smile, the same for the four days I was there. However, this very much contrasts the professionalism on the concierge desk and front bar staff who were fantastic.

Another negative about the facility is the unwillingness to eliminate smoking which is still available in drinking areas in South Australia. They change the laws in October 2007 to come in line with other states.

If you dislike inhaling a pack of smokes as you talk with friends over a wine there are a number of hotels in Adelaide that are already completely smoke free and have been for some time. Other things, the buffet hot breakfast was very average and I think the facility is becoming overpriced as it ages. There are much better deals that exist for domestic business travellers within the city. I believe you are overcharged for what you get and the hotel will exploit there location (uping rates) if an expo is running given the proximity to North Terrace. If you’re from overseas and or in a group, I am sure it would be an appealing price structure. Finally the restaurant has a limited menu and for Adelaide a very average wine list. Try North Adelaide for that, about 10 minutes by Cab.

  • Liked — Tired and old but very well maintained
  • Disliked — A pack of Marlboros with my wine please!!

We stayed here for three days at the start of our holiday. we had booked a standard room, but upgraded to a suite for an extra £30 a night. It was beneficial as the achieved a seperate living area, which provided more activity space.

The hotel itself was good but basic, clean and presentable, providing good value.

We didn't use the pool facility offered, but this looked good as well.

The main shopping street and access to public transport are all within walking distance from the hotel.

Adelaide itself is packed full of lively positive and very friendly people; we thororughly enjoyed our stay. Our trip took us from Adelaide, through Melbourne and on to Sydney. Adelaide ended up being our favourite because of the local population.

NB The weather is great as well!!

Having read some of the reviews, you are a little sceptic but I was both surprised & pleased that this hotel offered great value for money. It's in a good location 5 mins walk from the main shops, casino and restaurants. Just one word of warining, if you book to stay over a weekend, the local tourist office warned that there is always trouble outside on a Sat night and the area is known as Sin City (the worse street in Adelaide) Lucky for me I left on Friday so cannot comment if this was true. Don't let the X Rated shop next door put you off, during the day and two nights I was there (Wed-Fri) there was no trouble at all.

My only disappointment was of the swimming pool area. The pictures you see on the website are very different to the real thing. The pool is much smaller than you imagine. Still that was just a small part of my stay. I would personally recommend this hotel if your looking for a clean, tidy hotel in a good location, with friendly & helpful staff willing to do anything for you and at a great rate. My room was a little dated and could do with some modernisation but the bed was comfortable and I had a pleasant stay. I would recommend this hotel to others and would certainly return again!

Stayed here on Business for a week Jan 2007. Have stayed previously for two weeks last year . Great location & excellent service from all the Staff.
Restaraunt is good , nice Breakfast & good Dinner menu . Food Superb, Bar is open plan but nice & relaxing
Convenience Stores located close , & a 2 min walk to Rundle St Mall.
You can also go through laneway opposite Hotel to take a shortcut to a walk along the Rivers edge

Would definately stay there again !

I booked this hotel based on the reviews from this website. The service was excellent.

I found out after we left the hotel was that there was a swimming pool. I would have appreciated using the pool just to get away from the 36-40 degrees heat. No mention of this swiiming pool was said at reception or signs pointing the way. Our room over-looked some buildings. I suspect that if we paid more for our room we would have seen the swimming pool.

I thought for the price I paid I would have liked a bigger TV.

I thought the advertised $24.50 buffet breakfast was over-priced, even though we got it for the reduced price of $15pp.

The location was good even though it is very near the red-light area.

I think I got a cold by the hotel cleaners keeping on setting our room to the air-conditioning coldest setting.
