“Servive at its best”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2010

We stayed at the Intercontinental for three nights, on the club level. The club level rooms were very well equipped, and spacious. The service at the hotel was amazing. From the club level staff to the front desk personnel. Especally Ratchel on the club level and Marlon at the front desk. The hotel is located next to the casino, and several resturants. If you walk about 5 minutes you can get to the Rundel Mall which is loaded with stores and shops. We picked up our car right down the street at Hertz and not at the airport (we did not need it until we left ) most tours will pick you up at the hotel. The club level had a very nice buffet breakfast and very nice snacks later in the day. Considering the price of food in Australia the extra dollars spent to upgrade to the club level are well worth it.

I have stayed here many times over the past years. This was an abominable stay- so bad that I don't have time to list all of the problems- ranging from bad service, paid for amenities such as champagne not arriving, newspapers not being delivered despite asking, platinum loyalty status ignored, incredibly rude staff, buffet breakfast being substandard, room falling apart (phone not working, airconditioning not working, glass shower door cracked, safe door stick closed), carpet filthy.
Despite staying here when it was a Hyatt at least 14 days per year for work for many years, I won't be back. I gave them the benefit of the doubt last time. Not this time.

stayed for one night should have stayed longer, will definitely stay there again, breakfast comparable to anywhere in the world, service great without imposing, quality of hotel room, linen and location fabulous, great views. Pool shut too early and would have liked a balcony or an opening window but hey can live without. very enjoyable stay

We arrived in Adelaide without a booking. It was hard to miss the InterContinental towering above Adelaide CBD.

The young woman at reception was friendly and was also happy to match the Wotif online price. This brought the room rate down to an acceptable level, expensive, but not bank breaking.

Our room was on the 15th floor with a great view of the Adelaide Hills & Adelaide Oval. I would have loved to take some photos, but the outside of the windows were very dirty. I completely understand that you can't clean a skyscrapers windows everyday, it's just a shame it stopped me taking photos.

The bed was very comfortable and the bathroom was surprisingly large in size considering the small closet like door you have to walk through to get in. The shower water pressure was excellent.

TV audio can also be heard through a speaker in the bathroom, which was a nice touch. You can have a shower and not miss the TV news.

It was a novelty to see a Playstation controller connected to the TV. The novelty wore off though when I realised you had to pay to play the decade old games. If it were free, it would have been fun to play around with it. I suggest the hotel stops charging for this. Sure, charge for modern systems & games, but not games released in 1996!

The room service arrived quickly. It was on the expensive side, but very tasty.

Parking is by Valet, the attendants were very friendly.

Located on a main bus, train & tram stop, this hotel is in a great location. The casino is right next door as well.

It was a shame to see so many homeless people on the street outside the hotel & in front of the casino. It made us feel guilty about splurging on a 5 star hotel.

If you're visiting Adelaide, this hotel should be considered.

Well, the hotel was not bad. But for Intercontinental standards it was certainly not one of the better hotels of the chain (and I know plenty of them). The public areas of the hotel appear to be rather tired, the rooms are somewhat better but still not en par with places like Sydney or Hong Kong. The club was pretty nice, breakfast there and evening drinks were good. If you do not expect too much you might not be disappointed. However, if you expect a "good" InterConti, this place will not make you happy.

The hotel is huge and no personal feeling to it . The bed sheet is horrible . It is hard as sand paper ,no comfort on the bed .The way they set up the TV I don't like it .It is on the side of the bed . The mate clean really well . The kits in the bath room is just perfect . The internet it is most expensive so far $29 a day .I don't know why they can't include with the room price instead of telling you that they will charge it extra .

We have just returned from a trip to the Flinders Ranges and our last two nights were spent at the lovely Intercontinental Hotel in Adelaide before flying home to Melbourne.

We booked a Club Room and were given a lovely room on the 21st floor overlooking the Adelaide Cricket Ground, the river and parklands. We discovered that we had been upgraded to a larger room. I am a Ambassador member of the Priority Club of Intercontinetal but I don't think upgrades apply to Gold Members so this was a very nice surprise. We also received free bottled water, a fruit platter and some delicious chocolates. Free internet was provided in the Club Lounge.

The room was quite large and had a well designed marble bathroom. The bed was very comfortable and the air condtioning was quiet. There was a desk overlooking the view and a comfortable settee for watching TV or just reading.

We had all our meals in the Club Lounge during our stay. The food was plentiful. The breakfasts had fresh fruit, cereals, smoked meats, cheeses, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, sausages egg, toast that you cooked yourself, pastries, espresso coffee, soft drinks and tea.

Sandwiches were provided at lunchtime by dialling 5 from the Club Lounge. Again coffee, tea, soft drinks and biscuits were also provided.

Canapes and drinks were from 5.30pm- 7.30pm. Any drink from sparkling white and red wines to spirits were provided. We had enough to eat each night without having to go out to dinner.

We enjoyed our two nights in this lovely hotel with excellent staff who were only too happy to help you with any problem.

The hotel is very handy to everything in Adelaide. We did a lovely walk along the river on our only afternoon there and we also visited the shops in Rundle Street which is only a block away. If you are interested in gambling then the Casino is right next door.
