“Customer Service excellence”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 19, 2013

We stayed in the Intercontinental on Saturday night 16th November for a wedding in Adelaide, our room overlooked the River, nice view, King bed, clean, and pleasant staff... However the hotel exceeded our expectations when my husbands wedding shoe fell apart, and the shops had shut.... the hotel staff went out of their way to try and find him a hire pair of shoes, in the end they helped us fix the shoe so we could attend the "formal" wedding, they really did save the day. A special thanks to Chris from housekeeping for the "black gaffer tape" ... The shoe held up for the entire night, we even had a dance ... Great customer service .. Well done

Room Tip: River view, high floor, west side

Stayed two nights. All staff were helpful and very welcoming. The porter who took us to our room was a model employee. He made sure that we knew where everything was. Nice room with view over river. Ate in restaurant and enjoyed a meal. Would definitely return.

Adelaide's InterContinental lives up to the five star brand. The average room is small and rather in need of upgrading but some suites are very smart and spacious. No rooms afford any really good views so it's unnecessary to upgrade on this basis. The hotel is located well - a few minutes from the main city streets. The best part of this hotel is the friendly and caring service.

This is the obvious go to when attending a conference, though there are indeed several alternatives a stone’s throw away. What was impressive here was the unpretentious friendliness of the staff, for whom nothing was a problem. From the welcome at the door, through check in, to housekeeping and catering staff, all were smiling. The rooms are showing their age somewhat, and the iron in my room (just a dry iron, with a spray water bottle provided) was getting a little worse for wear. A wonderful selection of teas is available in the room though the coffee is regrettably instant. A very comfortable sleep, big fluffy towels and very nice amenities rounded out a pleasant stay.

We came for a conference and stayed on over a weekend. Our rate included breakfast and we made the most of it as it proved a sumptuous spread, though breakfast room very crowded on weekdays mornings.
Location is hard to beat: opposite tram stop and car rental companies, next to train station and casino. Shops on Rundle Mall and museums on North Terrace an easy stroll away.
Room was very spacious, well appointed and clean, on upper level - with view over river to Adelaide Oval. Not a cheap place to stay but they do cover all the bases pretty well.

Its next to the Adelaide railway station, the Adelaide casino and the tram stop is just outside, and a ten minute walk to Rundle Mall.
Its an older style hotel, but very well maintained, very pleasant and obviously well trained staff, including a very good concierge desk.
The rooms are well serviced and maintained [as you would expect at an intercontinental ] and we found them good value, with breakfast included and free wifi if you have an member card of IHG hotels.
Only 2 little gripes ,you would expect an egg station at breakfast in a hotel of this standard, but they will make anything you like, and they surcharge Amex which is pretty stupid in a hotel like this.

Room Tip: Higher the better is a great motto

Stayed at this hotel for 1 night on a Saturday.
Check-in was quick and professional. We had a room on the 11th floor with a good view over the city. The room was large with a comfortable bed, clean and large bathroom. Did not have any street noise so had a good nights sleep.
Had breakfast included in the room rate. The selection was very good and all of the hot food was just that- hot. The breakfast room was not overly large and being a Sunday morning was very busy, so people were sitting in the atrium area outside of the room. This didn't seem a problem.
The hotel is very close to public transport and the city centre. It has the Casino next door and a nice hotel across the road for meals and a drink.
Overall I would recommend this hotel as a good place to stay in the centre of Adelaide.
