My girlfriend is on a raw foods diet this month so when it came to our bi-monthly catch-up we found ourselves here. At the vegan cafe.
Now I'm an open-minded carnivore, I appreciate what they're doing here. If you're a carnivore and you're going then you know what the drill is. However, I emphasise that it is vegan and it is raw. No eggs, no milk, none of that; every menu item is broken down into every single minute ingredient (I know, I know - vegan - it's fair enough).
So, my tips for fellow carnivores, are:
Go with the organic pancakes - which are delish! You do feel like you're doing something nice for your body and they have fruit in them which is fun. Ask for extra maple syrup though: I couldn't drown my pancakes with the amount provided.
The OJ wasn't brilliant - it' freshly squeezed (I think - it has that vibe) which I normally love but I've had better. It wasn't hot and it wasn't cold and it had a lot of pulp. Like a lot. My girlfriend had the raw smoothie, which she loved (of course, she is doing a whole month of raw food so it's relative)
The coffee wasn't bad at all: I actually really enjoyed it. Of course I'm a soy drinker so if you're a full cream guy or a skim girl then probably not your place...
There's a little book store inside which sells some self-helpy kinds of books and books on how to make things with soy which is a nice touch for people who dig that.
Would be happy to go back and try their lunch menu sometime (with my gluten free friend who might like the range of choices available for her) but 'sometime' is operative word.
Upshot: Probably the best place for vegans.
