Had a great day with our tour operator Garry, took us to very good wineries where we had a great experience and also managed to fit in some scenic tourist spots. Good overall knowledge of the area and wineries, we had a great day.

“Solid but need to know what you want to maximise the experience”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed June 29, 2013

Pros
- lower price point than some of the other tour operators - $85 versus $150pp
- shows some flexibility around wineries to visit and included a trip to Hanhndorf
- good knowledge of local history and readily shares anecdotes to entertain

Cons
- The operator seems to have arrangements / personal preferences with some wineries and places and tends to favour those for a visit despite his assurances that we could go to any winery. no doubt there are more great wineries in the barossa than you have time to visit in a single day, but if your tour is organised around clients' preferences, then would be good to tailor to their requests rather than spending time at rather average places, e.g. I know of some good wineries and asked to stop at a particular cellar door, yet he stopped next door at his 'personal favourite' and so we walked to the place ourselves
- during our last winery visit in the middle of the tasting just after 4pm he started to text and call as he grew impatient and wanted to leave - perhaps better to focus on his clients' overall experience rather than his own agenda or use a more subtle approach to managing the schedule
- clarify the meaning of 'lunch included' and whether this is tied to the place the organiser gets lunch at for free - we were offered the choice between that pub and Maggie Beer, but at Maggie Beer no one knew of any lunch deals with Bums on Seats

Overall
- good value if you know what you are doing / where you want to go but don't want to drive yourself and are persuasive enough to influence the operator to go to those places

“Excellent day in the Barossa”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 28, 2013

Paul of Bums on Seats did a marvellous job of accommodating everyone's requests, introducing everyone to everyone and telling 'bad' jokes all the way there and back. :) We were able to fit in a host of wineries (some picked by the group, and some gems that Paul was able to recommend) and we had a wonderful day.

“A fantastic day in the Barossa.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed June 12, 2013

We spent a fun-filled day with our guide Paul and a bus load of like minded wine tasters in the beautiful Barossa. We made a late booking over a busy public holiday weekend and were impressed with the way the company was able to accommodate us and the one specific winery that we wanted to visit. The other vineyards that we were taken to, chosen by Paul, were exceptionally good and we now have a new favourite winemaker from the region!
We opted for the "lunch inclusive" tour and thought that the whole package was very good value for money.
Paul's great sense of humour made the tour extra fun and he was extremely knowledgeable of the region and the wineries.
I would highly recommend this company if you are thinking of taking a wine tour around the Adelaide area.
