“Cant fault it”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 31, 2013

It’s a fairly dark restaurant which makes for good mood lighting but not so great for photos! The décor and feature paintings on the wall are beautiful and very English.

They have a fairly extensive al a carte menu and a good selection of Banquets too! We decided on the banquet as it is usually better for a bigger group of people, you all get to enjoy a little bit of everything! We are all about the sharing.

Presentation of the food was really nice and the food was excellent, it encompassed as the Indian flavors well. The staff were very friendly and were always making sure we have enough to eat and drink. It did get a little loud but as the night went on the “crowd” thinned out and it was a little easier to hold as conversation with the others at our table. Everyone looked like they were enjoying themselves.

We stuffed our faces until we couldn’t stuff anymore, sad to say but there was still a fair amount of food left when we were done but we just couldn’t eat anymore!

“Food To Cherish.........British India,Adelaide,South Australia.”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 13, 2013

We were there to dine and meet up with other friends too from India , what an awesome place with great Decor, and the Indian food was styled and presented so well with great taste ,that my 25 years of Hotel experience took a beating.. that the same Indian food can be served so well in a pre- plated manner..Simply the best. The memory would linger for a long long time ..

We were also Fortunate to Greet Mr.Tony Abott the Opposition Leader who was also Dinning with his friends.

“not terrible”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed May 1, 2013

The food is pleasant enough, but not really anything to write home about. The samosa entree did stand out as the savior of the meal though.
The decor is luxurious and warm; this restaurant is a nice place to go for a special occasion, however it was SO LOUD, and the waiting staff were completely unphased by the eardrum-rupturing conversation levels of the tables around us.
all in all, I'd been wanting to go to this restaurant for a long time and when finally presented with the opportunity, I was not disappointed however it didnt do anything to really surpass expectations.

“No complaints”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

Had a lovely leisurely lunch at British India and have absolutely no complaints with any part if it. The service was excellent, the atmosphere was unhurried and the food was delicious and very good value. Portions were more than generous and well spiced, with fluffy, separate rice to soak up the plentiful sauces. Overall, I would recommend and will definitely return.

“More a confusion than fusion”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed April 8, 2013

Was recommended to check this out, given my love of Indian food, so the British twist was intruiging. The ambience is wonderful, I really didnt mind the changing view on every wall, and it was in keeping with the theme. My test of any new place is the Butter chicken or murgh makhani, which incidentally WAS invented in India quite by accident. I expected this to have a british slant, and in that found that it did, was different to the traditional Indian style, but I really struggled to find the flavour of fenugreek, this is the main spice that makes this dish what it is, so overall was left somewhat confused. The Biryani rice was more like stodge, wet, gluey consistency. This may be the British influence, but with the sauces of Indian, rice should be dry to absorb the flavours. Best Indian in Adelaide? Hardly. But will return to try the British food, think that may be a better experience. Staff were friendly & courteous.
