This resort was chosen after checking out all brochures, reviews, etc. for a most idyllic two day break after all the sightseeing and travelling we had previously done in Australia. We wanted a complete rest.
On arrival from Shute Harbour, at the beach on the Island on the Island's own very, very noisy and tatty but supposedly 'luxury' launch, we pulled up alongside a barge which over the next hour saw four cement mixers loaded on board. This is not what we were expecting or had even envisaged. The cement mixers had trundled up and down the beach churning it up and beforehand could be heard working away.
The pool looked beautiful as did the restaurant and the accommodation but we never had the opportunity to experience their use.
Sadly, we were - after a long hour or so negotiation - refunded fully and transported to an alternative location.
We were devastated as this short trip had been planned for a long while and we were really looking forward to the promised serenity in the brochure after such a hectic previous four weeks.
We have since read more reviews and guess we were very unlucky to arrive at the time of the building work but we received no warning beforehand that this may have been taking place.
We strongly feel that a small resort such as Peppers should completely close down so that no guests have to experience the disruption when they have clearly chosen to go there for the peace and quiet. The ambience pf the resort and the only small beach was completely ruined. A small luxury resort such as Peppers - 21 rooms - should have been closed whilst any work was going on which involved heavy machinery and work barges.
In addition, our email to Peppers on our return to the UK at the end of March has not even been acknowledged. We are really disappointed in this.
We are sure that once the building work has been completed that the attraction and exclusivity of the resort will return and once again it will prove to be an idyllic escape and sort of accept that we may have been very unlucky to have arrived at the time we did.
We sincerely recommend that any prospective visitors check out the state of the building work before they book and even just before they are due to go.
