My daughter and I have just spent the five most idyllic days ever at this wonderful resort.
Really, it felt more like a grand family home due to the wonderful staff - everyone of them always wore the best of smiles and always managed time for a little chat. In particular the VIP Manager is a stand out. He totally made both of us feel so special and at the end of our stay he was there on the jetty waving goodbye - just like an old and valued friend.

Every whim was catered for - even a charming person offering to clean sunglasses!! I am unable to mention any single stand-out occasion. From the moment we awoke everything was stand-out. My husband and I have managed five star resorts and now we know what six star means. 85% is totally due to the fabulous and lovely staff!! Thank you ALL so much and here is a promise WE WILL BE BACK!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Trust the staff - every room is a good room and everyone has a view. The Great Barrier Reef surround...

This hotel has some great pluses. The ocean view rooms are excellent (though some are quite a distance from the main hub). Aquazure infinity pool is beautiful with a gorgeous outlook over the ocean and the huge main pool being concentric circles of fresh and salt water with bridges over was a delight. The iced water served to the sunbed was a welcome touch. I can also praise the transfer from at to the airport . From your arrival to departure you feel special in the beautiful cruisers being served bubbles and canapes. I would also highly recommend "under the stars" dining with Fire on main beach.Apart from the wonderful food our waiter Blake was a delight -his enthusiasm and food description together with his friendliness and attention to detail made this night one of our best ever dining experiences.
On the low side apart from the beautiful breakfasts served in a lovely restaurant overlooking the ocean I would have to say some of the the other restaurants were very overpriced and food, especially Amici, very poor. Although there were five restaurants they were not all open every evening so the choice was limited.
On the whole, although our stay was quite expensive the experience was fantastic

Room Tip: I believe there is quite a variation in rooms ,suites and prices. Our ocean view room with balcony...

We recently stayed for 4 nights. The price was expensive; however the level of service and luxury matched the cost. We had a nice relaxing time; the staff were very friendly and very helpful. Overall it was on the expensive side however my expectations were exceeded and therefore I would recommend Hayman Island One & Only for a couple’s getaway anytime.

Room Tip: We stayed in the Ocean view room, which was about entry level. If I was going back I would probably...

So much potential but lacking so much

After the renovations the rooms are amazing however the staff let the place down. It has so much potential to be a five star hotel, the staff make it 3 stars.

So many stuff ups with bookings, we had jet skis booked and due to weather they were cancelled. We found out the following day that it was miscommunication between staff as it was to rough for kids but adults were fine. We had a butler as we had a pool side suite and you would expect better.

The rooms, you can't fault them, other than the crap free wifi

Staff another matter

Room Tip: Pool side suite is worth it

This resort has been recently renovated, The rooms are spacious and luxurious, pools are stunning. There are now two pool areas with the addition of Aquazure - service can be a bit slow, it is not air-conditioned during lunch time. Seafood at the "Fire" restaurant was amazing. This is not a place to go to if you're on a budget. The accommodations and food and spa were fairy expensive. Every staff member we walked pass greeted us. Make sure you leave yourself enough time for queuing up to check-out so you don't miss the boat transfer.

As we only had 4 nights to spend away, we decided to stay domestic for our wedding anniversary to limit our travelling time. We considered Qualia, Lizard Island and Hayman - Lizard Island was closed from storm damage, Qualia was booked out so we were left with Hayman. I was nervous by the mixed reviews but we are not high maintenance people and took the plunge.
The transfer by boat was great - champagne offered, beautiful day, blue seas, sea breezes, luxury boat - a great start.
Our room wasn't ready when we arrived so we were treated to free cocktails and lunch while waiting - brilliant, we were on holiday and in no rush.
We chose the Pool Suite - large, beautiful room, romantic furnishings, luxury bathroom with mood lighting, magical view of the iconic pool and the ocean beyond with a smattering of islands - heavenly. The coffee machine in the room was awesome and well used by us as early risers, it meant that we didn't have to get dressed to have our first decent cup of coffee of the day.
A buffet breakfast to die for - my husband fell in love with the maple bacon. I loved the fresh pasties and good coffee.
We ate at Bamboo, Amici and Aquazure - great tasting food - nothing that said wow.
We didn't do any of the activities on offer, our biggest decisions of the day was which cocktail to try next and whether it was time for another swim. The offered ice buckets with bottled water poolside was great.
Okay, now for the downside...
The biggest whinge about the whole experience was the sporadic service. A dinner booking disappeared. Homemade focaccia offered at Amici while we looked at the menu one night was missing another night. The swirl of vinegar added with flair by one waiter at dinner was missing the next night with a different waiter. A request for 2 firmer pillows, only one delivered. Someone came around the pool and offered to clean your sunglasses each afternoon after a day of swimming and sunscreen except they didn't turn up everyday as promised. The turn down service each night was great and included a tiny gourmet sweet, however on our last night, the much anticipated treat was missing. No giant fluffy towels to go with the amazing bath that fits two, no music player in the room for some romantic music. All these teeny, tiny inconveniences added up to failed expectations.
All the staff were incredibly friendly and helpful, they just don't seem to have the training or experience to pull it all together. I rate holidays by how many 'wow's are uttered. Hayman got a wow for the room, the pool area, the view and the breakfast buffet. Everything else was 'great' or 'good' - there just wasn't enough 'wow' for me for a 5 star resort.
Would I go back? We would first go back to Lizard Island where we spent our honeymoon.

Room Tip: The Pool Suites are large, beautifully furnished and have a fantastic view. We stayed on the 3rd/top...

Last weekend my wife and I stayed 3 nights in the recently reovated pool suites at Hayman. The rooms are spectacular with plenty of space, quality styling and views over the iconic Hayman pool to the Whitsundays beyond.

The resort now has two pool areas with the addition of Aquazure. Both are fantastic with full service although the staff could have been slightly more attentive.

In addition to the food at the 2 pools Hayman has 3 restaurants serving high quality food. The variety of restaurants as well as the free watersports at the sandy beach are what sets Hayman apart from Qualia on Hamilton Island.

I have no hesistation in recommending Hayman to couples wanting a luxurious, romantic island holiday. Hayman now has kids club activities which we haven't experieinced but I will definitely be investigating Hayman as a family destination in the future.
