“Relaxing, Good location, Friendly service”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 15, 2012

Helpful and friendly service from all staff encountered during our 4 night stay. 1 bed apartment was clean and roomy for 3 people, with a great view to the beach. Had everything we needed for a short stay. Cooked on one night. Place felt relaxed and would recommend for a short stay on Hamilton as within easy walking distance to all amenities.

Room Tip: We chose a 'garden room' but this still had a great view of the beach. All rooms looked as t...

We had an awesome time on Hamilton Island, just about everything was perfect and we were so sad to leave. It's a remarkable place.

Unfortunately, the apartments are pretty bad. Firstly, the decor is pure 1980s, with pretty much no evidence we were in the 21st century apart from a modern flat screen TV in the lounge. The apartment wasn't terribly clean either, particularly the bathroom which had a really nasty smell right from the moment we first walked in the door. There is no daily servicing despite charging $300/night. Great business to be in, charging top rate but delivering neither a competitive product or any form of service. You'd also think they could spring for slightly better toilet paper - I've literally had better in a Botswanan backpackers. The public toilets on the island are better!! It comes back to the price/standard ratio. If we'd had a room that standard and paid more like $150, this would be a 5 star review.

Overall, these are all very minor things but contribute to feeling like we have paid about double what we would have found acceptable if we actually knew the standard on offer.

On the positive side, the reception staff were friendly, the view is incredible and the island itself is paradise.

Oh and a pro tip: all the rooms have views to the ocean. Don't be fooled into paying extra for a sea view, you're just looking at the same thing but one floor higher!!

We enjoyed our stay here, even though the apartment was a bit dated. It was clean and provided everything for a comfortable stay. The staff here are very friendly and helpful.
Our apartment had a great view over the pool and ocean (East wing). Just a short stroll over the road to the beach and not much further along is the buggy hire place (for travelling around the Island)
One downside is that the bedroom wall in the unit is also the wall along the walkway to the other units, so was noisy during the night when people came home. Suggest you ask for a room away from the lifts (so there is not so much passing pedestrian traffic).
There is a free shuttle bus that travels between the Marina and the apartments, but there is often a bit of a wait as there is no timetable as such....he just comes along on his rounds. There were 2 occassions that we could not fit on the bus, which was disappointing after waiting for a while. Overall can recommend the apartments and found they were more reasonably priced than other accommodation on the island.

Room Tip: Ask for a room away from the lifts...further to walk, but would be much quieter!

The location of the Whitsunday Apartments is ideal for families. Its on the Catseye beach side of the island, so you can either swim at the beach or use the local hotel pools. Plenty of things to do on Hamilton Island. Next time I'll try and arrange a golf cart as part of the package.

Room Tip: All rooms face the beach, obviously the higher floors the better the view.

After reading many reviews online at the time I'll admit I was a little apprehensive about staying here, and it exceeded all expectations.

First we spent a night in a garden view room, the view of Catseye beach was amazing even from the lower levels. The kitchen and living rooms were generous and clean and we appreciated having a TV both in the lounge room and in the bed room after a long day of travelling.

The next night we spent at REEFWORLD which was a once in a lifetime experience I highly recommend it if you can squeeze some extra money from your budget. The staff at the Whitsunday Holiday Apartments were kind enough to hold the bulk of our luggage so we didn't have to drag it all to Reefworld and this was very much appreciated.

Then we came back to spend 5 more beautiful nights this time in the Coral Sea View room, and all I can say is WOW, the views couldn't have been more perfect!
We ordered groceries online which were delivered while we were gone and we saved money on meals which we spent on massages and day trips. Whitehaven beach was amazing and we took advantage of a snorkelling trip too. I think you really need to take advantage of the Great Barrier Reef if your staying at Hamilton Island.

I noticed lots of people complaining that they were bored, or that everything was expensive and I can't help but think that perhaps they are just a bit lazy, we were so active that we needed a day lounging in the pool drinking cocktails to recover. Also any island will be more expensive than your local shopping centre! The holiday apartments provided free kayaks and you didn't have to pay for any transport as they have a free shuttle bus and free airport transfers.

The staff were friendly and approachable, the views were amazing and the rooms were tidy. I'd come back!

Room Tip: Go for the Coral Sea View Room

Stayed for 1 night on Hamilton Island on our way to Airlie Beach. Upon arrival (via Jetstar), the shuttle buses to the hotels are very nice and driver was super friendly, giving us some orientation of the island and good spots to check out.

The room and hotel itself was clean albeit a bit dated, although the view was fantastic. Also WiFi only works in the lobby which is a bit inconvenient given WiFi in the room is pretty standard across most hotels now.

You can also buy beer/wine/water at the hotel reception, but they we couldn’t consume it on their little patio area, so they recommended we head to the next hotel for a drink.

The location is also quite good, and the shuttle bus around town is super convenient. Overall our stay was ok, I would recommend it definitely if you need the full servie kitchen, but if you’re looking for just a room and specifically something a bit higher-end, I would recommend looking elsewhere.

so easy to get to with direct flights with jet star tranfer to from airport included with accommondation great set up booked through wotif but there was no reservation staff very nice and helpfull took a little longer to check in but no dramas we were on the 12th floor as soon as you enter your room the views are just stunning the apartment has everything you need full kitchen, bathroom not bad water pressure poor, bed not comfortable but very big in size plenty of cupboard space also there is coin operated washing machine&dryer the other thing not good is nothing comes with the apartments like canoes, catarmans, flippers, goggles have to hire all that out which for a family would be quite dear, and no resturant or room service hired out golf buggy every day great way to get around the island although expensive $85.oo a day the other option is the island bus which runs all day and thats a free service the island itself is just beautiful but everything else is just so dear the food at the local shop, the resturants, the bakery makes the best coffee and had great pies for lunch the fish&chip shop is not to bad so there is a whole range to eat from

Room Tip: make sure to get on a high floor views stunning
