“Good value for money”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 13, 2010

Remembering that all Hamilton Island accomodation is very expensive, I think these rooms are the best value for money. They are huge comfy rooms with the most stunning views which make the whole Hamilton Island experience all the more better.
It is certainly not 5 star, however I would rate it a 4 star. If you are used to luxurious, modern rooms - you won't like it. For us, the view made up for the standard rooms.

Great concierge service from airport pick-up to ferry drop-off while staying in 2 BR penthouse with extended family. Fantastic views with multiple activities available - sailing, snorkeling and SCUBA plus beach walks and town activities.

We went for a holiday in early March and had just the most fantastic time. We are from Korea and stayed on the ninth floor. It literally has one of the most amazing views we have ever seen. The water is a different colour depending on the time of day and it is stunning.
I guess to start off the service is very mixed, a lot of the women staff are not rude but they are not helpful either. They answer your questions but don't elaborate in the slightest, the male staff are a lot more relaxed and happy to talk to you about what to do on the island. The rooms themselves are spacious and cleen, but the they are not luxurious. I don't think this matters because the island is so beautiful.
You can wander around and have a dip in most of the pools which are all close by or go to the beach. The beach is not a very nice beach but is fun to do activities such as kayaking which is free. The food is very nice everywhere but expensive. It is a good idea to pack some cereal and snacks for breakfast or go to the bakery as the pies, sausage rolls are more economical if on a budget.
We went to the Fantasea cruise to Reefworld which is expensive but a fantasic experience. Yes a lot of the reef is slightly bleached but is still definietely worth going to. The diving is something out of this world.
Make sure you hire a buggy for one or two hours and go around the island (it take about 40mins) and up to One Tree Hill, you will understand what I mean when I say this place is Heaven on earth after going up to the hill and admiring the view from the lookout. I strongly recommend the buggy trip, you wont regret it.
This place is honestly a natural wonder of the world, everywhere you go the atmosphere is fantastic.
One word of advice: The Reefview hotel is literally next door the the Whitsunday holiday apartments, unless you are on the top floor of the Holiday apartments, stay at the Reefview as you will get the view out onto the ocean and beach, it's worth the extra money. The bungalows are behind the hotel and unless you have a large family, I feel it's worth staying at the Reefview. Seriously consider if you want to stay at the Beachclub as it is literally in front of the hotel and the view from where we were was so much better than the Beachclub and although they have an exclusive pool, the pools surrounding are just as good. We had to choose between the Beachclub and Reefview and are glad we chose the view and the money we saved we spent on going to Reefworld!

Happy holidaying

We went to this hotel on honeymoon and were extremely disappointed. The rooms are expensive and, besides for the view, they are very basic. The food was ridiculously expensive and the quality was poor. We were happy to pay a premium (we knew it would be expensive) but were expecting something decent in return. The rooms weren't made up until 4pm each day. Activities were cancelled without notice and when they did happen the staff did everything they could to get them over with asap. One restaurant was closed because "the resort was empty" but then another restaurant was too busy to take reservations until late each night and room service took close to an hour. Despite the resort being empty and rooms not being cleaned until 4pm they refused us a checkout after the standard 10am. We would definitely not go back - there are way better places in Australia to get value and quality in return for our money!

Reef View is a hotel with some of the most stunning views I've ever seen. All the rooms are facing the sea side, but in order to have a great view of the Whitsunday passage one really needs to have a room above 6th floor. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with an enormous bathroom and we particularly enjoyed the fact that the king bed was facing the all-glass balcony door.
Unfortunately, this also comes at a price. Hamilton island is a rather expensive place, and you'll be expected to pay around 350 AUD per night for a standard room and additionally for a "reef view" room (guaranteed above the 9th floor). All in all I'd still say that if you want to say on Hamilton and want to stay in relative luxury, yet still not dish out 550 AUD for Beach Club or 1000 AUD for Qualia.

Everytime I look at my photos of our holiday in Hamilton Island I laugh and smile. We went for our 5 year anniversary and had a room that looked over the lagoon. Oh the views were inspirational of the submerged mountains and the turquoise water. The room was fabulous and clean and we had two big beds!
I wouldnt have breakfast downstairs go across the road to have breakfast by the beach. The reef has a breakfast multipass so you have free range to food across the island. Snorkelling is good and I recommend taking the family.
Golf Buggies are expensive unless you get it with your apartment. Try to do this.
We went to a rifle range and shot all types of guns. Very random and deafening experience on Hamo Island. We had a very lazy lunch at the Beach Club which is in the corner of the beach. Stunning food and wine. Then we went up the hill with our champagne and watched the sunset. You can have cocktails up there but i say take your french chmpagne!
Also you can use the other pools on the island and there is a pool bar where you can get some deadly cocktails! Pricey but there is a happy hour!
A massive dissapointment was FANTASEA crusises. We went to a reef which was bleached and there was hardly any coral. We went diving and there were some big fish there. We felt the diver instructors were complacent and on our second dive got dragged out the water, hardly had time to do our safety stop, because the boat was leaving and we had to get changed in front of everyone. They scheduled the dive late. We felt bad/ill after that experience. There is a proper dive shop there PLEASE go diving with them instead!
If going to whiehaven please be aware there is nothing to do but lie down on white squeaky sand. no snorkelling.
We loved hamo shame about the day trips.

I had a preconception that Hamilton was going to be an untouched Oasis island. However once arrived at the hotel and told we were on the 14th floor I soon lost that idea. However, the view overlooking the sea from the room was spectacular. The parrots flying onto the balcony provided a superb site.
The hotel staff were very friendly and the pool bar we really nice. The walk to the main restaurants in the harbour was a good physical trek but as with everything on this island, once you see the surroundings you forget everything.
