“Loved it, can't wait to return!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 20, 2009

A bunch of my girlfriends and I recently spent 5 nights in the Whitsundays, 3 nights in Daydream (dissapointing) and 2 nights at the end on Hamilton. When we checked into the Reef View we wished we had spent the 5 nights there.

The rooms are huge, modern and all have a balcony overlooking Catseye Beach and the ocean. The service was great, buffet breakfast is excellent and the hotel restaraunt was great too, they have a 3 course special for $65 for dinner.

It takes about 3 mins to walk down to the beach, but this was no drama at all.

Yes, we absolutely loved Reef View Hotel & Hamilton Island.

From the time we landed, our luggage and check in was very organised and smooth. Coach transfer to the hotel. We arrived at approx 12.30pm and our room was available 30 minutes later. Bags were in our room already upon arrival.

The renovations to the room are well done. We were on the 17th floor (after having requested a high floor upon booking directly with the hotel) and the view was brilliant. Bathroom is very large with two basins, deep bath and separate toilet. Our room had two queen size beds to accomodate our little one. Flat screen tv, small table and chairs and two small lounge chairs.

The hotel itself has a very nice pool, tour desk where we booked our trips, great glass elevators where you can take in the view, a bar, small convenience store.

Takes about 5 minutes to walk to the beach and about 10 minutes to the marina. We hired a buggy for 2 days of our stay and got around the whole island.

We took a boat tour out to Chalkies beach and Whitehaven beach. Fantastic!!! We had so many activites to choose from. Some we did were the Jetryder speed boat, went to the gun shooting range, golf range, fly wirer, mini-golf, amusement game area, gym to play table-tennis, used the paddle boats, used many of the pools availble which are all fantastic looking, go-karting, took the buggy to One Tree Hill for cocktails at sunset and spent time lazing on the beach.

Most staff were very friendly. However, encountered a few waitresses on the island and individuals at tour desks who looked bored with their jobs and not interested in assisting.

We spent 5 nights on the island and could have easily done at least another 2 nights. Loved Hamilton. Exceeded our expectations.

We stayed here for 4 nights and we loved it. Clean room, fantastic view and the breakfest was superb. 2 minutes from the beach and 10 minute walk to the marina. Would def stay here again. Staff was very helpful in planning day trips to great barrier reef and whitehaven beach.

We just returned from our trip to Hamilton Island, and were very impressed with the Reef View hotel, and would definetely stay there again. We stayed on the 11th floor and the view from our balcony was incredible! Our bags got taken care of both when we arrived and when we left, and we got our room keys as soon as we arrived, so the service was fantastic. Unfortunately the weather we had was not very pleasant as it rained almost everyday of our 7 day stay there so that stopped us from enjoying the sunbaking by the pool or beach. We went on two cruises (Whitehaven & Reef world) and found Fantasea to have very professional and entertaining staff! Unfortunately the winds were extremely high and the rides to both places were very interesting! My husband and I made sure that we took sea sick tablets!! The happy hours at the Island bar and Marina Tavern were fantastic as the cocktails were absolutely delicious and prices at the Marina Tavern were very affordable. We thought prices of other things (restaurants, general store) were expensive but we made sure we had enough money to cater for that and to still enjoy ourselves. We didn't hire the buggies as they were way too expensive, so we either walked eveywhere or took the sometimes full shuttle buses. (It did get rather annoying when the bus was full and had to wait for it to come back, especially in the rain, this happened on a number or ocassions) One thing we would like to mention is that we thought that the Island needed some more night life every night as we are a young couple with no children and had nothing to do during the evenings. We also thought that some areas and our hotel need a little bit of a revamp as it looks to be ageing.

Overall we came back to Melbourne very relaxed and can't wait to go on our next holiday!!

I just got back from staying at Hamilton Islands Reef View resort. It was a total waste of my time and money. Hamilton Island is very small you can see it all in 15 minutes on a buggy. Hamilton Island itself is very overpriced.....2 coffees and 2 milkshakes cost us close to $30 Australian dollars. The beach is terrible and full of jellyfish and rocks. The people that work there change all the time as there all packpackers...and they are all very rude. I overheard 2 staff members laughing at an asian Tourist.
We stayed at the reef view in an ocean view room. What a waste of money. You can not sit on the balcony because the birds will attack you. You cant put clothes out to dry because the birds will take them or do there business on them.
Take my advise go somewhere else..even the gold coastis better value.

This was my 3rd trip to Hamilton Island and my 2nd time staying at the Reef View. The rooms have been renovated since my last stay and look fantastic. Our 3rd floor room was huge and had a fabulous view of Cats Eye Bay. Service was impeccable... nothing was too much trouble and staff were polite and friendly .The hotel has its own fabulous pool but is well located to be able to walk to the Main Pool which has a swin-up bar. Reef view is also a 10 minute walk from the Marina precint, where all the shops & restaurants are. If you are of average fitness you really don't need ot hire a buggy on Hamilton Island. It's fun to get one for a day so you can explore the whole Island but at $80 a day it can be quite pricey. Only negs for this room are no cd/dvd player, but considering everything else I would highly recommend it! If oyu visit Hamilton Island you MUST go to Reefworld & Whitehaven beach - fantastic!!

To celebrate our 7th wedding anniversary Jase and I took a trip to Hamilton Island. Last time we were here we stayed in a Palm Bungalow so thought we'd upgrade to the Reef View Hotel this time. Well we are so glad we did! The entire establishment is beautiful, filled with friendly staff and had us oohing and ahhing from the minute we arrived to the moment we left. We stayed on the 11th floor and had unobstructed views of the ocean and resort below. Our room was spacious with 2 queen size beds, a large balcony, flat screen TV with Foxtel and in-house new release movies, a large marble bathroom with huge tub separate toilet and a shower big enough for the two of us! The room rate included a full buffet breakfast each and we couldn't believe what was on offer when we arrived at the restaurant each morning. Bacon, eggs (cooked to your liking), sausages, hash browns, grilled tomatoes, mushrooms, spaghetti, baked beans, toast, pancakes, fruit, cereals, yoghurts, the list goes on! The hotel pool was olympic size and one of many pools on the island that we enjoyed taking a refreshing dip in. The main resort pool is enormous and has an island bar that serves delicious cocktails during happy hour each day. We hired a buggy during our stay and had fun cruising around taking in the sights, snapping photos and stopping to admire the amazing views. There are plenty of restaurants to choose from including one on the ground floor of the Reef View Hotel but The Steakhouse and Italian Restaurant on the Marina get a big thumbs up from us. Both served delicious food that left us wanting more and tasted as good as the water views surrounding them! We ordered room service from the Reef View Hotel late one evening (around 11pm) and our order was delivered within 10 minutes and tasted great. The staff were friendly and helpful, which made check-in/check-out quick and easy. We wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Reef View Hotel at Hamilton Island to anyone looking to take a relaxing (and romantic) break. We've already made plans to return again later this year only next time we'll be staying a lot longer!
