“AN ABSOLUTE PLEASURE”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed October 26, 2013

Green Island resort and its staff should be very proud of their little piece of paradise...it was an absolute pleasurable experience. I have been to other island paradises around the world and this is got to be the equal best (equal with Aitutaki lagoon resort and spa, Cook Islands).....tip=room service seemed to have more options and weas served with heartier portions than dining in the restaurant.

Room Tip: We stayed in room 4 (the outer rooms) that look into the rain-forest from the balcony...I think thes...

Everything about this resort is Amazing! The staff, the food, drinks, the room, the views! If you want to spoil yourself this place is a must!
Worth every single penny and more!
Will be returning for sure but next time with the kids in tow as it was very kid friendly as well.

We stayed at Green Island for two nights as a family and enjoyed our visit, but it wasn't fantastic. We stayed in a reef suite, which was very large, well presented and had a lovely outlook through the rainforest. The only negative of the room was the room plan showed a sofa and we only had 2 chairs. We had our daughter with us and so were back in the room quite early in the evening and it's not particularly enjoyable/romantic to spend the remainder of the evening sat in a chair.
The staff were polite and helpful with making bookings for the glass bottom boat, providing extra towels etc, but I did overhear one female member of staff being less then enthusiastic about running the fish feeding.
The restaurant was another matter entirely, it seemed to be staffed entirely with backpackers and they were all polite, but the quality of the food was just not up to scratch. When they charge fine dining prices, i.e. $36.50 for a main course, you expect it to be of a certain standard and it just wasn't. The first night my husbands medium-rare lamb rack, was not evenly cooked, it was very much medium at one end and distinctly rare at the other. The szechuan pepper calamari I had for lunch had never been near a szechuan pepper corn and it was soggy. We also waited at least 40 minutes for dessert the first evening, I did order the chocolate fondant which would have to have been cooked to order, but the waitress didn't say mention that when I ordered, and with a young toddler it was just too long to be sitting around. Even the breakfast wasn't that great, the muffins that were put out on the second morning were not even cooked through. The one good feature of the restaurant was the kids menu which wasn't evident on the website.
One of the perks of being a hotel guest is you can take as many glass bottom boat trips as you wish, so we booked ourselves on the first boat of the day, turned up about 5 minute beforehand as advised and found ourselves, along with all the other hotel guests it seemed, at the end of a long line with too few seats on the boat. We were bumped and not happy. We did get put on a later boat, but really when you are paying for a premium product you expect better.
As for the island, it's beautiful, if you stay away from the jetty area we found we could find a spot to enjoy the island in peace and quiet, even during the day and it's even better once all the day trippers leave. The snorkeling it good, lots of fish and some coral when snorkeling off shore, but visibility was at most 5 metres when we were there.

My partner and I stayed at Green Island for one night.

The positives of our stay:
1. Greeted with very friendly and attentive reception staff. The reception staff (in particular, two gentleman, one whose name is Julian) were always very pleasant and helpful.
2. The room - reef suite. Our room was ready at check in at 11am. A bottle of champagne was in our room upon arrival. The room was spacious, clean and very relaxing.
3. Post 4pm - tourists have left the island and the island is beautifully peaceful. It truly feels like you are staying on a secluded island.
4. The water is great for snorkelling - the water is warm, amazing fish and very safe.

The negatives:
1. There is only 1 restaurant on the island the the food is incredibly disappointing. For the money one spends to stay at Green Island, the food should be at a higher standard.
2. The service at the restaurant was terrible. Staff were not attentive - one even told us at dinner "the night will improve once it is 10pm and she finishes work!". This is not what we want to hear. Overall, the staff appeared disinterested and the service completely dampened our stay.

The food and service at the restaurant let down Green Island. I am glad we saw Green Island but I'm not sure I will be back.

We loved staying at the hotel. When the last day visitors leave and you have the whole island to yourself it is a whole different place! The restaurant is amazing! The rooms are huge, clean, and beautifully decorated. The snorkeling from the beach itself is really good. It is not cheap but a great few days.

Spent just one day and night here. Great location. Lots of day visitors but you can still get away from them in the resort area. Special place when all the day visitors leave and the staff can pamper the resort guests to sunset drinks. Could have stayed a few more days to relax more and to do & see everything.

What a fabulous place to go in September. Beautiful weather, lots of fish and no stingers. All the snorkelling gear; beach umbrella and lounges; nature walks; fish feeding and kayaking are included in the price - as well as an amazing spread of food (hot and cold) for breakfast. Swam every day and saw clown fish near the observatory on our last day (they are there all the time).
