“Bit of a hike in, but this was a Fun lake”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 12, 2012

Great to get the leg muscles working after a few hours in the truck. A beautiful lake with a huge sand blow working its way into the eastern side. Saw a school of large catfish in the shallows. Quite magnificent.

“Lake Wabby”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

Lake Wabby is a less well known lake. Its only a couple of km up from the Eurong Resort. It is a trek. About 40 mins walk. It is tough at the start as it is loose sand. I would advise shoes, as you go along the track there are bits of leaves and bark etc. It's a slight incline the whole way. I wouldnt recommend for very small kids and older people. As you approach the lake there is about a km of sand-dune to negotiate. It is tough in the heat but the sand feels lovely on the feet. The views are out of this world! Well worth a visit. Its lovely and cool in the lake. Its fresh water. Its safe to swim in. We had a lovely time there. The good news is the return journey is mostly down hill.

“Worth the Walk”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 6, 2012

To get to Lake Wabby you have roughly a 20 minute walk it all depends on your fitness. Whilst i managed to get to this lake within 20 minutes friends of mine took a good 45minutes. There are steps (not sure how many) but quite a few.

Once at the end of the walk you come to what feels like the edge of a dessert. Walk accross the sand dune and you get the most fantastic view of the lake and area.

Finally if you want a good photo and are travelling in a tour group try get to the front of the group. The tour goups go here first thing in the morning so the area is untouched of footprints and no other tourists. Once the first of the groups arrive they run/walk down the dunes and swim in the lake so photos are not as pretty.

“Lovely”

Not as spectacular as Lake McKenzie but very beautiful nevertheless, and different. Well worth a visit when on Fraser Island.
