I have been a regular diner at the Watermark for the past 5 years as I live on The Strand. They have a new owner who is an investor not a restauranter. I have nothing against this personally, but the restaurant needs an operator. Someone to make things happen & make you feel welcome as per the previous manager David.
I dined at the Watermark 2 nights ago with my 2 eldest children. We shared the BBQ Prawns & Calamari as an entree. They were ok but lacked flavour. For mains we had Chicken & the Kimberley Red Sirloin. The steaks were served in deep plates? The steak was pretty ordinary. My wife & I has a glass of red served in ordinary thick rimmed glasses. I recommend they spend money on some decent glasses. Service was lacking, had to keep asking for drinks etc.
My recommendation would be for the menu to offer a fresh fish(just not smoked slamon), an Eye Fillet Steak(Sirloin was the only offering) & oysters. The menu doesn't offer any oysters, strange for an a la carte restaurant. We had 2 entrees; 4 mains; 3 soft drinks; 1 beer; 2 glasses of champagne & 2 glasses of wine for $250.00. Whilst I don't mind paying for quality food, I think they are pricing themslves out of the market. I would expect to pay $250 if it included a bottle of wine.
I love the ambience of the Watermark, but it may be sometime before I am back.
