“Great location, a bit old and tired but would stay again.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 28, 2011

I booked a two bedroom unit for 3 nights over Christmas so that we could enjoy a family Christmas.

I must say I was very happy with the accomodation, even though cupboard fixtures were a bit worn around the edges. Everything was clean and tidy so a good impression when first arriving. The air conditioners had been put on for us, so the rooms were cool when we arrived (very thoughtful). A must for Townsville weather. The two bedrooms had built in wardrobes, one without doors and the main with sliding mirrored doors, air conditioners and were a good size. Beds were fine and I had a good nights sleep on each of the three nights we stayed there.

There was a digital TV with Austar and DVD. At first I thought it didn't have a dvd player but it was a fixture of the TV. We were also able to plug in our music usb into to the tv as well. Great feature. Kitchen was fully equipped with fridge, microwave, toaster, electric jug, good size electric fry pan, small dishwasher and an array of pots and pans. On the down side there were not many dishes which could be used for cooking in the microwave or the oven. Plenty of cutlery, plates, glasses and cooking utensils.

BBQ area is very nice. Paper plates, BBQ utensils and anything else needed for the BBQ were located in the laundry. There is even a lounge chair in the laundry if you prefer to sit and wait while doing your laundry. Swimming pool, while small is perfect for cooling down in. Pool and BBQ area are well maintained and have a troical feel provided by the gardens.

Location is great: just two blocks up from the Strand and Coffee Club, across the road from a hotel and a short walk to another more popular one on the Strand, shopping centre about 70m away where there is a BILo, newsagency, bakery and chemist, Maccas about 40m away and various small resturants between the apartments and the Strand. I don't think you could fault if for location.

On Christmas morning there were 5 adults opening presents and having breakfast and there was plenty of room. No one felt crowded or on top each other. So a good size living area.

Gail, not sure if owner or manager, was very pleasant and helpful. Rubish was removed each day. She even offered her computer to us so that we could Skype our other daughter who is overseas. Didn't take her up on her offer though, as she didn't have the necessary gear to Skype. But she did try and accomodate our needs.

We have a Rav 4 which fitted nicely into our allocated garage.

The airconditioner in the main bedroom whlle blowing cool air seemed to never to actually cool the room down, when the door was closed. My husband removed filters and cleaned them. This did help.

A very pleasant stay and would stay there again. If however, you after something a bit newer or a bit more luxurious this isn't the place for you.

Stayed here ages ago and wasn't impressed but new managers living on site couldn't do enough to ensure our stay was perfect.
No request was questioned. There was no extra charge for anything. We used their BBQ facilities to entertain some guests. Free Austar & digital TVs receiving all channels.
We breakfast daily in the nearby 3 breakfast restaurants with collegues & were able to prepare our own lunches & suppers in our apartments' kitchens.
The style is dated which means you get large rooms instead of the pokey new places.
What a gem of a find....we'll definitely be back.

3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 26, 2010

Had booked into this apartment for the purpose of my daughters birthday. On arrival was told that the airconditoner in the bedroom was not working and not due to be fixed until Monday, and that the airconditioner in the lounge would suffice. offered a discount on accomodation. Seeing as there was a concert in town I was reluctant to try my luck elsewhere. Arrived in the room and was greeted by a smell of musty wet carpet that was compounded one all the doors where closed and the only working airconditioner was turned on...no ceiling fans. My son has allergic rhinitis and asthma which was bought on by the damp conditons. Husband found a dirty nappy in the kitchen bin. Apartment was dirty, tumbleweeds of dust were under the fold out couch. No off street parking available for our vehicle. On a plus great location, walking distance to many eateries
