“Woftam (waste of #@ time and money)”
2 of 5 stars Reviewed August 10, 2010

My husband and I chose to stay at the GCI to celebrate our anniversary - a seafood buffet with a wine buffet and only a lift ride back to our room. We were so disappointed. There was a reasonable selection of fresh seafood (crabs, bugs oysters) very ordinary salads and even less appealing stir fried veg, roast veg, steamed fish and hokkien noodles. There were roast beef & lamb slices(minimal) that had been carved earlier keeping warm, a watery tasteless lamb curry and jasmine rice and on request dish of the day was oysters kilpatrick which you could order freshly cooked - very sweet sauce. My husband chose to grab some cheese from the dessert bar to accompany the wine bar (the plus for this venue) he asked the young chef if they had "blue cheese" and the youngster eagerly ran to the kitchen to retrieve it, however what he returned with was Camembert! The staff were delightful and great hosts but with no atmosphere and a poor selection for the buffet they were pushing it up hill!

“Waste of money - give it a miss”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed April 4, 2010

Very disappointed with this buffet. Not sure if it was because we went on a public holiday, but we still would expect more for this price. On arrival we were shown to our table and given the names of two people who would be our waitresses for the evening. Unfortunately, we didn't see a single waitress during our entire meal. Were told that we could have morton bay bugs cooked fresh but there was no one to be seen to order them from. Seafood consisted of prawns that were not fresh - you could really smell them which is not a good sign, some crab meat , a few oysters and some sort of unrecognisable fish that did not look very appetising. Soup consisted of fish floating in greasy water. Very poor salad selection, basically potato salad, green salad and prawn salad. Hot buffet had a dish made of chicken thighs and wings - would have expected better from a buffet at this price - another unappetising piece of fish that looked very overcooked, an overspiced meat dish and some dried up pasta. The deserts were equally awful - a small selection of cake that again seemed days old and two selections of icecream. We were not offered any drinks during the meal, nor were our water glasses filled. The ambience was extremely bad. Despite the restaurant being almost empty, all the patrons for the evening were clumped together in one space, which meant we had a great view of other extremely disgruntled looking diners. This was definitely the worst meal we have ever had in a restaurant anywhere and we will never, ever be back.
