Ok...where do I start??

We just returned from a 4 night stay with our small children. I must say that overall, we were disappointed with the hotel, however we managed to have an awesome time!

LOCATION: You are right in the heart of Surfers Paradise. If you want to be right in the middle of the action & within walking distance from everything - this is your place! We went to alot of the restaurants in the Circle of Cavil - Wonderful!! (just underneath the hotel)

STAFF: Reception staff were lovely & helpful - no problems.

ROOMS: We were in a 2 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment on the 19th floor. The balcony overlooked the pool & had ocean views. Wonderful views, you could stay out on the balcony for hours!

The apartment itself was a little shabby. The carpet was very dirty, and the bathrooms were also very dirty. The shower in one of the bathrooms had a lot of mould & had obviously not been cleaned in a long time. It also smelt a little like faeces - gross! Thank God we had another bathroom to use instead.

Also - small thing to complain about - but the TV was bloody tiny & the reception not to good either. Would have liked a TV in the master bedroom too.

FACILITIES: The pool area looks wonderful.....but.....the water was absolutely freezing. Now, I am not one to shy away from cooler water at the beach or in the pool - but this pool was amazingly cold. The kids lasted about 10-15 minutes at the most, my daughter's lips actually turned blue!! This was in the middle of the day, on a 28 degree day in the full sun! Because of the 3 tall towers, and also some of the other surrounding buildings, the pool is in the shade more often than not - which probably doesn't help.

Am I a little fussy? Probably...

But, when you are spending $260+ per night...I expect just a little bit more. I have stayed in much nicer places in Surfers & Broachbeach for the same price.

Hope this helps!!

I stayed here for 6 nights in February on level 26 and it was great!! I would recommend this for anybody! Perfect views, great staff, great location!
It was a two bedroom apartment with two bathrooms, it was just the two of us but gave us plenty of space.
Great, great great!

Spent 5 nights in 2 br 2 bathroom apt booked with Gold Coast Holiday Apartments.
Apartment was fantastic - beautiful furnishings, clean all round, lots of space, wonderful views/balconies, plenty of spare linen, etc. Kitchen large and well-stocked with cooking accessories, large fridge and laundry located in kitchen (very handy).
Our 4yo son loved it so much he wanted to relocate there!
Complex also wonderful - excellent location, safe & secure, lots of shops & good food right downstairs, indoor & outdoor pools clean and large. Agree with some reviews about reception staff - not friendly at all.
Overall, our best stay in Gold Coast due largely to the apartment and complex. Would definitely stay in this or other apartments managed by GCHA.

We booked out apartment through the owner directly via Stayz.com.au. We stayed in a 35th Floor 2 bdrm apartment in the Northern Tower. The apartment was very clean and tidy and had the most spectacular views of the ocean. The facilities of the apartment itself and the complex are great. We didnt have much trouble working out the maze of foyers etc - based on other reviews we were prepared to be lost but its actually pretty good.

As a resort, the pools are great, the location amongst the supermarket, liquor store, donut shop (yum!) and various cafes and souviner shops, this is the best apartment complex I have stayed in at Surfers.

I agree with other reviewers here, and although we didnt deal with reception at all, they are a complete sour bunch of girls sitting behind that desk! The complex need to give them a good boot and teach them some manners - after all, WE are the guests! By the sounds of other reviews on this website you are much better off to book an apartment privately. The stayz website provided photos of what the apartment looked like inside so we knew exactly what we were getting.

If anybody would like the contact details for where I stayed, please leave me a message I would be more than happy to recommend this particular apartment I stayed in.

My husband and I have just returned from 5 nights at the Chevron Renaissance. We booked through a shop on ebay called gifts_2_u. It wasn't an auction, but a classified ad, and the cost was much more reasonable than booking through the hotel site (also it was much cheaper than last minute sites like wotif). We were personally greeted by a member of their staff and shown to our room. The beauty about this booking was that we knew exactly which apartment we were staying in, and that it was a high floor with an ocean view, 2 bdrm, 2 bathroom. The apartment was absolutely immaculate. It had everything we needed - a fully equipped kitchen with quality appliances, a laundry with washer and dryer, hair dryer in one of the bathrooms, a bath in one bathroom under the shower and just a shower in the other bathroom. The main bedroom had a very comfortable queen sized bed with luxurious pillows and the 2nd bedroom had 2 single beds. The lounge room had a nice flat screen TV (no foxtel though), a DVD player and a stereo system.

The best part about the Chevron is the location. As in previous reviews, there is a Coles supermarket directly underneath the complex, along with restaurants and cafes. The grounds are absolutely spectacular and no expense has been spared in maintaining them. The gardens are lush and the outdoor pool is the nicest one I have ever seen. The outdoor pool is quite cool, but very refreshing after a long day out in the sun. If it is too cold for you, the indoor pool is also spectacular. Not as big, but still 25m long and about half the width of an olympic pool (4 lanes). There is also a gym alongside the indoor pool. The BBQ areas are also great - right alongside the outdoor pool and always looked very clean.

The only very minor thing I should mention is that there is a bit of street noise from the partygoers coming out of nightclubs etc, but I found if I shut the windows and put earplugs in (my one necessity when travelling), you couldn't hear it.

Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend the Chevron to anyone!
