We spent three nights at Bahia Beach Apartments in January, 2013. We made a last minute booking, I had not had the opportunity look at TripAdvisor before we went, and we were assigned unit #17 on the 5th floor. As noted in earlier reviews, this unit can be described, at best, as a sparsely furnished unit with a limited ocean view. At worst, the ceiling in the ensuite bathroom looks like it constitutes a health hazard -- what exactly is that growing in there?
Pros = the building is in a good location (quiet end of the strip, right across the street from the beach), the pool area is reasonably nice, and we were able to make a last minute booking.
Cons = While the main floor lobby and the elevators were well maintained, the 5th floor lobby and unit #17 are both in serious need of some fresh paint. Unit #17 is close to the refuse chute so when we stepped off of the elevator it smelt like a garbage dump. The kitchen was minimally equipped, the air conditioner is located in the living room so does not cool either of the two bedrooms (which catch the late afternoon sun), the beds were very flimsy, the blind in the master bedroom was broken, the hot water is dangerously hot (beware when showering or washing dishes), the tv remote did not work (I reported this twice and nothing was done), and the internet service which I paid for was spotty and unreliable.
As the individual units are not consistently furnished and maintained, I would not recommend staying here. We were not given a discount for what is clearly an inferior unit and we were mislead by the positive photos on the owners website.
