“Great Value, friendly staff, top location.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 17, 2010

My wife and I stayed at this great hotel for three days , after reading many reviews on lots of hotels, I finally decided on Artique Resort Apartments. The reviews were correct, we found the staff very friendly and helpful, the rooms were very clean and the location to all the Gold Coast attractions made things very easy and relaxed for our short but busy stay. definiatly recommend to friends and family, would also stay here again if on the Gold Coast.

I stayed here for 5 nights with my Hubby and 7 year old Daughter, we were fairly happy with the 1 bed superior apartment (oceanview) on 18th floor but the whole place could do with a spring clean, the apartment superficially clean ie: nothing had been moved to hoover under etc, this was slightly off putting and the kitchenette was tiny....we struggled to cook pasta for the three of us due to the lack of space!!
I understand peoples comments regarding the manager as she is a miserable looking woman who looks ectremely unapproachable......your typical mutton dressed as lamb kind of person........miserable as sin....luckily we had no dealings with her!!!
The pool area is nice and clean and the BBQ area's are lovely too so thats definetly a plus but just beware if you do book here that the amount of rules and regulations around the place is unreal.....oh and not to mention the $300 bond you have to pay.....just incase you lose a key....helloo......how much is it to have a key cut????
I probably wouldn't book here again as a holiday is supposed to be about relaxing and i was on pins incase we broke any rules and lost out $300 bond!!!

The apartment and the facilities were lovely and what you would expect for the price. Modern, clean. There were a few things that bugged us by staying there that would prevent us from another visit.

The staff at reception were not friendly. The bathtub plughole was filled with hair - not ours. The rooms are only serviced if you stay for over 14 nights. We stayed for 12 and were very disappointed with this lack of service as previous experiences at many other apartment complexes would offer a full service from staying over 7 nights. The final point that was irritating, that when we asked reception for an additional bath towel, we were charged $3 for the privilege.

Given the cost per night of this apartment complex and the fact it is managed by Accor, we did expect more on the service & cleanliness side.

We had a one bedroom corner apartment on the 17th floor - had amazing views of Surfers, the beach and of the Hinterland. The sun streamed in all day until it set. The facilities, staff and position of Artique Resort - first class. We have spent several vacations along the eastern coast of Australia, would rate Artique as one of our best apartment stays, would certainly stay again and would recommend anybody visiting and staying in Surfers - pick Artique resort - you won't be disappointed - we weren't.

Booked "Superior Ocean View" room, which was actually located on the back of the building. If we leaned over the balcony we could see the ocean. Was told we had the right room. Very unfriendly staff. Cheap furniture, dirty rooms with dust on everything. Dirty, uncleaned toilets. Filthy windows, couldn't see past all the previous guests kids greasy hand marks on the windows. Windows leaked water all over the floor inside, creating puddles.

Paid bill at checkout, which we believed was in full. Then 3 months later, we get charged an additional $500 on our credit card with out so much as a phone call to explain why. Turns out they under charged on checkout. We have no issue paying money owing, but charging us without so much as a phone call during the christmas period is just wrong.

I would suggest you strongly rethink staying here, the price may be right, but it's for obvious reasons. We will NEVER stay here again.

UPDATE: We are receiving abusive phone calls from Andrea, the manager of Artique Resort. Very classy business....

The apartment itself was amazing - great value, very modern and less than 5mins away from beach, bus stops and plenty of restaurants. It's probably 10mins walking from Cavil Ave. Everything inside is clean and i would defiantly recommend the hotel.

Be aware that the front desk is only open from 8:30am - 5pm, check in is at 2pm. We arrived at 7am and had to wait for staff to start work so we could leave our bags with them til check in. When they walked in at 8:30am, we were acknowledge but they still took an extra 10mins to open the shutters of the front desk and serve us. After the formalities we were told to come back at 2pm and if the room was ready earlier they would call us. When we came back at about 2:30pm, the room wasn't ready because they thought we wanted a late check in, mind you i had written on our booking form we would be arriving EARLY. When we asked if there were other rooms available to check into instead, they said "no we are fully booked" - they must've forgotten to bring in the big "vacancy" sign from outside then.

We wanted to go sit by the pool and wait for the room, but they said we couldn't use it without a $200 bond for the key. That's when my boyfriend and I got really angry because we had booked the hotel for 3nights, why would we want to steal the key?! Anyway, after that they gave us the key without a bond. 45mins later we had our room.

However they were helpful in recommending a really nice place to have breakfast that morning. After that we didn't really interact much with the staff.

Other than that, our stay was great :)

Despite reading a few reviews stating that staff were unhelpful, we found them to be very friendly when assisting the three of us. We each had an apartment on different floors, the security arrangements of the resort mean you can't get to another floor, you need to swipe your room key to gain access to each other's rooms. We solved this by two of us giving our second key to the other, and grabbing our friend in the lift on the way down. Despite this slight hassle, the apartments were absolutely gorgeous. Immaculately clean, they appeared to be new, with the one bedroom apartment having a master bedroom with mirrored double robe, a spacious lounge that opened onto a deck big enough to accommodate a good-sized table and four chairs, which was perfect for pre-dinner drinks. The open-plan kitchen-dining area contained spotless appliances, and all the crockery, cutlery etc. needed if you planned on cooking. We didn't, but were really impressed with the decor which was modern and chic, no caravan curtain bedspreads and artwork here, each apartment was done in tasteful muted palettes of pale aqua, or chocolate/taupe. There was a limited Austar service and despite a gorgeous pool area, we couldn't resist the 100m stroll to the beach at the end of our street. We all decided we would love to own one of these apartments! Great stay... although when oh when will free wireless broadband internet access become the norm?!!!
