We have been to the Gold Coast several times and each time have gone with our temptation and tried something different in regard to accomodation. For this visit we thought we'd return to the place we tried first. My sisters family were meeting us from Adelaide and they have never taken their kids to the GC. When booking I was worried the apartments would be tired and dated and specifically requested 2 refurbished apartments. Refurbished is not what we got!! However they were not terrible. My sisters family got apartment 20A which had new carpet and new furniture but the bathrooms are in need of a makeover as is the kitchen. Our apartment, 20B was in a more desperate need for refurbishment. The carpets are terrible, the furniture very old, our kitchen was better. All of this said, the location is magnificent and the views, glorious. The 'B' apartments have the best views and balconies. When booking the reception never mentioned that there are 'works' going on in the grounds, however apart from the eyesaw, this didn't effect us at all. The ceiling fan in the master bedroom rattled the whole night and although the maintanance man wasn't able to fix it he did give us a pedestal fan. After staying at 4 other apartment blocks over the years I can definitely say that Hi Surf have the most spacious apartments. It is obvious from the foyers etc that the refurbishments are in progress but unfortunately with these privately owned apartments there are no guarantees. We certainly appreciated the convenience of having adjacent apartments. Thankyou Hi Surf for our great holiday, it's just reminded me to ask many questions and insist on getting what I want.
