“Exceeded our expectations will recommend to family and friends”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed May 11, 2014

Just spent a week in the two bedroom apartment 8A & 8B and we were very happy. This resort is perfectly located to get everywhere on foot or bus. Great for a family holiday for Nan, Mum, Dad & 3 year old. The pool is great and we all loved the heated spa. Mr3 had a great time feeding the fish, ducks and huge lizard. Having a kitchen and two bathrooms was an unexpected luxury. Yes the apartments are a little faded, but are privately owned so the furniture/cutlery is not all matchy matchy but so what for $130 a night what do you expect. We expected clean and comfortable and we got that and more. The staff were all incredibly helpful and friendly even letting us into our apartment super early so we could rest after our flight, very generous and unheard of in bigger hotel chains.

We are booked on for an 8 night stay here & I'm disgusted ok so here's the things wrong - dryer has no door - our kids have fold out camper beds that came with a sheet no blanket etc - one bed had a huge pile of sand in it when I unfolded it plus a used hair band, our bed has a black valance with a gross white stain on it - our toilet cistern is very cracked & has been glued back together - bed is so uncomfortable it like sleeping on lumpy bricks - walls are dirty from something being spilled up it - lots of dust & cobwebs on walls - please don't stay here it has ruined our holiday!

DO NOT STAY HERE. IT WILL RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY.
Worst hotel I have ever stayed in in my life. Hands down.

The staff were ok but totally uninterested in helping with anything.
I am not usually a person to write reviews but it has to be said.

The rooms.... yuck.
Dirty and old but the main point being dirty.

Only 2 of the 4 lightbulbs in the room even worked so the room was all dark and we complained several times but nothing was done about it over the whole 10 days we were there.

One of the light switches was actually hanging out of the wall and im surprised we didnt get an electric shock when using it. (Is that even allowed in a hotel?)

The shower and bathroom were filthy. There was dried old blobs of bright red body lotion all through the shower and on the shower curtain (the shower gel we were using was green). Mould all over the walls. The whole place needed to be waterblasted with jif. Do they even check the rooms before they check people into them? Do they send a blind person to do the room inspection?

The bed was so uncomfortable. It was just two singles pushed together but with no mattress protector so there was a big hard line down the middle of the bed. and you could feel the springs in your back.
We asked for a new mattress or anything, even a spare duvet to put under the bottom sheet but was told no. We went and priced up new mattresses but decided it was a waste of money when we were flying back to NZ and would obviously not take it with us. (That is how sore it was making our backs). I am usually fine with even sleeping on the floor with a blanket, and had it not been tile - i probably would have done this. One night it was so painful I slept on the couch. Not what I would expect when booking into a motel/whatever you can call this place.

We were also only given two pillows for the queen bed. One each.
I asked them for two extra so that we could have two pillows each and it wasn't until our fourth day of asking that we were given these. Terrible service considering I asked twice a day for four days. 8 times before getting any action.

The glasses, cutlery and plates all look like they needed a good run through the dishwasher. We had bought food to cook in our kitchenette some nights but ended up going out the whole time because the hotel was a depressing place to be.

Infact it was so bad that we even went and booked in another hotel the night of my birthday so that we did not have to put up with it. I was so looking forward to staying in a nice hotel and so disappointed with the reality of what paradise island 'resort' actually was that I cried.

Only thing going for it is the location, easy walk to town. But that's it.

Oh and a rubbish truck comes at like 5-6am every single morning to empty the skip bins loudly and annoyingly. Pretty stupid considering it is a holiday resort and people actually want a sleep in.

The rest of it... i'm surprised it has any good reviews.
Infact I'm surprised anyone stays there at all.

The hotel was already paid for otherwise we definitely would have left and stayed somewhere else. Only reason we didn't anyway is because we didn't really have the money to be paying for two lots of accomodation and chose to spend it on touristy things instead.

I know this is a cheap hotel but I would at least expect clean.
And the luxury of having working lightbulbs and 4 pillows on a queen bed.
Absolutely ridiculous.
DO NOT STAY HERE. IT WILL RUIN YOUR HOLIDAY.

Room Tip: Don't choose any of them.

The location was fantastic, for walking to Surfers paradise and close to bus routes. The swimming pool complex was fantastic. The staff were very helpful. The rooms & linen was clean. The rooms could do with a bit of TLC but was priced accordingly. Great value for money and the grounds were well kept and it was quiet. The weather was hot but there were fans and an air conditioner in the room.

Room Tip: We had a room over looking the gardens and tennis courts.

Booked for us by Expedia, we had never stayed at Paradise Island Resort before.
Beautiful, older apartments, however we were upgraded to one that had been recently renovated. So we saw the old and the new (preferring the new).
A great view of the island waterway, and the pool and spa from our balcony.
Unfortunately the restaurant is now closed, we would have liked to try it out.
We felt safe, and our hire car had secure parking underneath.
Pool was warm and inviting.
Receptionists were great although new to the job. We had to ask for a bathmat and there was no face washer or hand towel or shampoos, (but that's being picky).
An occasional buzzing noise which seemed to happen at any time day or night (not loud, just out of the ordinary), and the maintenance man did his best to find it (to no avail).
Restaurants and the beach were all within walking distance and we felt safe day and night walking around the area.
Definitely would stay there again.

To all the wannabee 5 star holiday makers booking a trip to Gold Coast on a beer budget its injustice to give this resort a bad review. We just spent a week in Apartment 21 and it was great the staff was friendly and extremely helpfull. Paradise island resort is located in the heart of Surfers and really handy to all amenities for the tourist who wants to relax and not having to struggle to park a car in this busy area.

Room Tip: Riverview apartment would suit people wanting to do more own cooking as the kitchen is larger compar...
