We stayed here for 5 nights during March and had a fabulous time. The studio apartment was clean and had a view of the pool and beach (see attached picture). Too bad the balcony isn't a real one (the sliding doors open, but you can't step out onto the railing). At night, you can fall asleep listening to the waves. The hotel is just two blocks away from Cavill Ave, where the main strip of shops are so it isn't too noisy. But if you want high end shopping, the stores are literally next door. It was convenient - beach is across the road, buses also two blocks away, plenty of restaurants nearby. You don't really need to hire a car, just bus to the theme parks. You can also hire bikes to ride for the day from the hotel lobby, its $15 for the day and you can ride on the footpaths in Gold Coast. The bikes aren't spanking new, in fact, they are on the rusty side it does the job! The only downside during our stay was that the whole block was being sprayed with insecticide as a preventative measure (done once a year). I was a bit concerned about the chemicals, smell and any potential side affects but I didn't notice anything. They used synthetic stuff. But I can see why they did that - we didn't notice any crockroaches, mozzies or ants during our stay. Overall, it was reasonably priced and met our expectations.

The location was excellent, just a stone's throw away from the mall, cafes, restaurants, pubs and souvenir shops. The beach was just across the road and we had a beautiful view of it. Both air-conditioning and a ceiling fan were provided in the room. Rooms were fairly big and clean but we had no room service during the 6 days there, nobody cleaned the room or changed the sheets. I liked the small kitchenette, they had a hot-stove, kettle, sink and a fridge for you to store your food for cooking. They also supplied plates/cups/cutlery and a frying pan. Our room had a large wardrobe with an ironing board and iron. There was a laundry room at the basement for you to wash your clothes.

Reception staff were friendly and there was a whole array of brochures for you to choose from to do your thing. We took the hot air balloon with champagne breakfast which was wonderful.

They lock up the main lobby during the night and guests are given an access card to enter the lobby. There are security guards stationed at the front of the lobby so that gives you a sense of security.

What I liked was the convenience of going to Sea World, Movie World & Dream World, the drive only takes between 20-30 minutes depending on traffic.

If you are looking for a no-frills budget sort of room which is convenient then this is the place to book.

I always stay at this hotel when I visit Surfers.
It is located opposite the beach with great views of the beach it is a friendly and well run. The staff are always friendly and helpful.
The rooms are comfortable and if you are on a budget most of them have cooking facilities. They have cane furniture and are bright and have a nice beach feel.
For the price, position and price for what it offers it just can't be beat.

The pool area is one of the best in Surfers, a huge pool as well as spa, sauna and steam room with lots of sun lounges, shady trees and sunsails it is an oasis tucked away from the bustle of Surfers. Best thing about is it's heated year round. Because of this you can swim at night because it is also lit up until about 9.30 at night.
The Cafe is a great place to meet and it's buffet breakfast is legendary. After eating this there's no need for lunch.

Address: 52 The Esplanade, , Surfers Paradise, QLD

Directions: It is on the corner one street north of Cavill Mall the main centre of Surfers.

They said all rooms were refurbished, but our room clearly wasn't. When you sat in the sofa, the cushions sank so much that the wooden edge cut into your legs. The sofa itself was very dirty because it has been used so much. The cushions on the chairs of the table were falling to pieces. Then the shower stopped working. We complained and said how come our room is old, and our friends have a new room and yet we are charged the same price? The lady at the desk said that the rooms were owned by different people (as if that is a reason for why the same price is charged). She also said that we had looked at the room first (we did, but it wasn't yet made up so we couldn't see it properly) and she said we had already stayed one night so we couldn't change to another newer room. It wasn't until I told her that I took photos and that I would complain, that they later called us and moved us to a different room. Very rude to us. And why did they give us this room in the first place and charge us the same price as they would charge for a new room. I will never go back here because they are rude.

    • Disliked — The receptionnist could have been more helpful and courteous but she was so rude.
    • Tips/Secrets: — Check the room first, thoroughly. Make sure it IS newly refurbished. They lied to us.

We thought this place was fantastic!!! We originally booked it for only 2 nights, but we loved it so much that we stayed a little longer!!
The view is beautiful, it's close to EVERYTHING like shops, restaurants & most importantly THE BEACH!! Plus, the theme parks are only 20-30mins away by car.
Staff were friendly & helpful, it was clean & very roomy, not very expensive either!
I would highly recommend anyone visiting Surfers to stay here!
