“Superb”

The hotel was superb it had a very new furbished studio, their kitchenette was very good other than the rust in the kettle but it didn't matter because you could boil on the stove. The showers were alright because the water wasn't very strong.
We tried the full sized tennis court it was pretty good other than the fact that the lock wouldn't lock. Their tennis racquet's were very new. We went to the games room and it was very good with a ping pong table but the racquet's were all worn out but luckily we bought our own. We fed a lot of money in to the pool table because it was very fun

“Good Value”

Stayed at the Chateau. Convenient location, great views from rooms and good cafe located in the hotel. Great value for money. Rooms were neat and tidy. Oven looked a little dirty and some of the plates had some leftover marks on them but otherwise great place to stay in Surfers.

“Good Facilities but rooms need overhauling”

Chateau Beachside Resort

We stayed here for 6 nights Oct / Nov 2007 with our 3 year old. The location is excellent and the external facilities are great - the pool, spa, sauna and playground were all clean and lovely. There is also a games room (table tennis electronic games etc) which although we didn't use it looked fine. The restaurant is good family fare at a reasonable price and they will deliver to your room if you wish - breakfast is excellent value. The reception staff were friendly and helpful. BUT if you are going there expecting a little slice of paradise - NO. The reception area is shabby and tired, the lift that was working was also shabby - the other one was broken. Access to the pool area is down a dangerous flight of concrete stairs. Our room was TIRED - although it was clean everything was shabby - curtains, lights, furniture, bedding, wardrobes etc all just shabby or cheap. We have stayed at several magnificent apartments at Surfers over the years and you can certainly do bettter than this if you prefer a modern fresh space for your holiday. It does NOT deserve the 4star rating it had on our tourist brochure.

I stayed here for 7 nights with my partner - we were looking for a hotel that was central to everything in Surfers but a hotel of a good standard which is exactly what we got. Chateau Beachside is literally across the road from the beach, and the patrolled beach in particular which is important. No walking for miles to swim between the flags, it's right opposite the hotel. Only 5 mins walk to the shops and restaurants too which is really handy.
The hotel itself is a nice 4 star standard, not overly modern but has everything you need for a great holiday. Quite a large pool with plenty of sun chairs, a games room, a great restaurant downstairs. Meals there are large sized pub style dishes, delicious! Our taxi driver also told us the buffet breakfast there is very well known as the best in Surfers and he wasn't wrong!
The studio apartment we stayed in was nice, spacious, had a fully equipped kitchen, small table and chairs and a couch facing the TV. The bedroom and bathroom were separate rooms to the lounge/kitchen. The decor was a little old fashioned but at the same time looked new and clean, may have recently been refurbed but just not to a modern taste? The only thing to pick on was the balcony size which was tiny. You could only stand on it, not even room for a chair. The views from the balcony are great as it's right on the water with an uninterrupted view of the ocean but you just have to keep the sliding door open and move the chairs into the balcony doorway to get the "sitting on the balcony" feel. But I'd definately stay here again and recommend it to everything. Great hotel, great location and great value.

We stayed here for 5 nights during March and had a fabulous time. The studio apartment was clean and had a view of the pool and beach (see attached picture). Too bad the balcony isn't a real one (the sliding doors open, but you can't step out onto the railing). At night, you can fall asleep listening to the waves. The hotel is just two blocks away from Cavill Ave, where the main strip of shops are so it isn't too noisy. But if you want high end shopping, the stores are literally next door. It was convenient - beach is across the road, buses also two blocks away, plenty of restaurants nearby. You don't really need to hire a car, just bus to the theme parks. You can also hire bikes to ride for the day from the hotel lobby, its $15 for the day and you can ride on the footpaths in Gold Coast. The bikes aren't spanking new, in fact, they are on the rusty side it does the job! The only downside during our stay was that the whole block was being sprayed with insecticide as a preventative measure (done once a year). I was a bit concerned about the chemicals, smell and any potential side affects but I didn't notice anything. They used synthetic stuff. But I can see why they did that - we didn't notice any crockroaches, mozzies or ants during our stay. Overall, it was reasonably priced and met our expectations.
