“Would stay again”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 18, 2012

Stayed at the Mantra for 5 nights and really enjoyed it. We had a one bedroom apartment on the 31st floor on the Ocean side. Great view up and down Main Beach. Room was quite large and very clean. The included breakfast was excellent.

We had a problem with the flat screen TV and when reported the staff came within 5 mins and fixed it.

Parking was good except on the weekend nights when the car park became full. If you went out there were no parks on your return. Happy hour was also very good and the pools were great.

The only issue is its a bit of a walk to the main Surfers area but staying further out can be an advantage on the noise front.

Overall would definitely stay here again.

Room Tip: Get a beach view above the 25th floor and the views are great.

My husband and two kids stayed at this resort for a week. I was hesitant from reading previous reviews but had nothing to worry about. The Staff at reception were outstanding in helping us book our theme parks and recommend restaurants and places to visit. We had an 11.00am departure and they allowed us to stay later than our check out time, with no hesitation. The restaurant was fantastic for breakfast and dinner meals. The apartment was everything we wanted, the view was brilliant. The bedroom tv not working and toilet didnt work on half flush was fixed within the hour of reporting it. We stayed high in the resort facing the ocean. I didnt have to worry about what a few people said regarding this hotel, we loved it and would very much stay here again if and when we return. Thankyou mantra sun staff. Our holiday was perfect.

Room Tip: Definately recommend a room facing the ocean and high up so you dont hear the noise of cars.

We recently stayed in a 2 bedroom apartment on the 20something floor on a wotif mystery deal. Apartment was spacious with floor to ceiling glass, balconys and great views. Kitchen & bathrooms were recently renovated, modern and spacious. Bedrooms furnishings and decor were a little dated and run down but had everthing a family with children would require. Outdoor pool area had a lovely little beach area and 2 large waterslides. Perfect for children. Staff member/life guard controlled the slides and wristband safety protocols were in place. Indoor heated pool was very large. Hotel was located on northern end of Surfers but within walking distance to Cavill Ave. Close to beachfront walkway, playground and beach. Restaurant on site offered deals for breakfast and dinner. We enjoyed a lovely dinner and although menu options were limited food and service was great. Overall very relaxing experience. Staff friendly. We will be back. It is not 5 star but it is family friendly, relaxed and fun.

Just returned from a seven night stay over the long weekend what a fantastic experience we stayed on the 21st floor in a 2 bedroom apartment which was clean & catered for all our needs ,the kids loved the water slides & spent endless hours on them even though one of the lifts was out of order for a couple of days there was never a wait to get to our room. The reception staff were always friendly & helpful the poolside bar which was open Friday till Sunday was a great place to relax whilst the kids enjoyed the resort facilities .We ate at the sayas 3 of the nights which we found to be of great value will be returning for a repeat visit thank you sun city

We stayed here last month in September, we booked a 3 bedroom apartment on 34th floor, view was amazing, however the actual apartment was poor. Extremely run down and outdated furnishings and decor, shower glass door would not close, blinds were falling apart, fridge door had a loud creaking noise, and really dirty ( we had to keep our shoes on at all times otherwise feet would be black), oven and microwave had not been cleaned, 3 out of 5 days there was a terrible vibrating noise coming from above and in corridor. Awful rooms, would NOT recommend. ( also being on 34th floor with kids aged 4 + 6 was a mistake as windows had NO locks and NO fly screens. Outside was beautiful though restaurant is NOT open during the day for lunch and poolside cafe only open from 5pm Thurs-Sat, too far to walk to other restaurants / shops for lunch with kids.

Hi Kat00g,
Thank you for your review. Mantra is the main Letting agent for Sun City and we only have one 3 bedroom unit on the 34th floor in our letting pool. This unit has had a complete refurbishment in the past 12 months. You must have booked through another agent.
Next time you are visiting the Gold Coast we would be pleased to provide you with Mantra standard accommodation.

Regards,
Michael W Murtagh

Picked up a great deal through Entertainment Book. Great price for the room that included the buffet breakfast. While I wouldn't regard it as a top notch property the value for money was excellent. Its just getting a little bit tired which is not uncommon for many of the not-so-new properties on the Gold Coast. Its at the northern end of Surfers Paradise and close enough to everything that you can't complain.

Room was a decent size though the bathroom wasn't huge. Had an issue with the shower head being a bit loose. If you put the water on too hard the shower head would swivel upright and shoot water over the screen. Nothing a quick maintenance job wouldn't fix.

Parking was provided as part of the deal which was great. Unfortunately with all the permanent residents having reserved spots there were no spaces left when we returned on the Saturday night. I spoke with the staff on the desk and they directed me to an alternative spot in the restaurant visitors car park. Problem solved.

Overall while not the pinnacle of excellence it was worth the money.

Room Tip: Good deals available online if you look.

I booked via Wotif for the Labour day weekend. The description of the room was nothing like the cramped room we received. Asked for two single beds and for some reason they put them together to make one double. The lifts were the most unpleasant experience. Out of the 4 available, only 2 actually ever opened. When attempting to take it from the underground carpark we waited at least 10 minutes each time. Ridiculous. The Carpark was a MAJOR issue. On both nights we arrived back at the hotel after dinner at approx 9-9.30pm. Both nights we could not find a car space on either floors. We looped around each level for about 15 minutes. The first night we ended up parking in the unsecured restaurant carpark, The second night we got so frustrated we parked in the 30 minute check in parking and asked at reception. We recieved no apology, just a reply of "oh, that happens sometimes, you can leave your car there". I have a brand new car! Unimpressed, especially when i arrived at it in the morning to find a cigarette butt on my car! I suppose this hotel would be good on a normal day, but during a long weekend it was a poor experience.

Room Tip: Pick an A room, B are tiny with no living space.
