“You get what you pay for”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed September 24, 2012

We stayed one night with breakfast included unfortunately. The buffet breakfast was so-so but the menu coffee was obviously intended to generate sales of the real thing. It was very bad. The view from the room of the hinterland and various island communities was excellent and staff were very helpful but maintenance is letting them down. We had a damaged air-con remote so we opened the air-con to manually adjust. The filters have not been cleaned for a long long time. At the end of the day you get what you pay for and the package price was low but we won't be back.

We stayed 5 nights at the Mantra Sun City in an ocean view apartment on the 23rd floor. The apartment had a huge balcony with a fantastic view of the ocean right across the street. The location was a plus with only a short walk to the beach and a short drive to dining and shops.
Staff were very helpful and courteous however the front desk was not always staffed adequately - on more than one occasion I had to wait at least 10 minutes before being attended to.
The 2 bedroom apartment was very spacious but surprisingly the bedroom curtains did not shut completely so we had a very early wakeup with the sunrise in our eyes!
What we found most disappointing was that most services came at an extra cost - we had to pay for using the tennis court, the games room and even for room cleaning services including change of sheets/towels etc.

Overall a pleasant stay but could provide better value for the price we paid.

Room Tip: Rooms above level 20 have an uninterrupted ocean view (lower floors are facing the ocean but other a...

Just returned to Tassie after spending 10 days in Queensland staying at the Mantra Sun City with my 2 young sons. All the staff were helpful especially Jo at reception and Victoria in the restaurant. The room was clean and the complex is well set out. Would not hesitate returning or recommending it to any of my friends, thanks for a great time.

Only negative was the roadworks, grrrr.

I stayed in mantra sun city last week for 3 nights . we were in gold coast for our 1st wedding anniversiry. I booked a one bed room apartment . requested the higher floor with good ocean view . received 33 floor with great ocean view. Pool is also excellent . Very close to transpot , bus stop is right infront of hotel and busses running to all the theam park and air port . Staff also friendly. one block away from cavil street and other facilities.

Stayed here for a weekend with two other mates for a bucks nights.

Pros
1) Staff are very friendly and helpful e.g. kept the waterslides open for us close to 4:00 pm and gave us extra entry cards etc.
2) Rooms are quite spacious and had most amentieis of self contained apartment when compared to Sydney
3) were generally very polite and helped us with direction
4) Very close to Avis & Budget
Cons
1) Bit of a walk (10 m)from the main stretch, but you don't want to walk after a big night.
2) Our room didn't have a great view( but very satisfied for $130 per night we paid)

My partner and I love our stay here ! It's close to everything and also the rooms are very nice!.. We went for our first time in Oct 2011 and again this year in July and also have booked for October again this year and we can't wait!.. We stayed in the 1 bedroom ocean view apartment and the views are great and just feels nice and homely:)

The room was clean and comfortable with a scenic view to the west. We asked for the king sized bed option which was infact 2 singles pushed together and you could feel the join. Staff were very obliging with prompt service when our swipe cards did not work on 2 occasions, first to get into the parking area and then to get into the room. We did not try any ameneties as we had tickets to a show and were only staying the night. On arrival back at the hotel, we would have liked to share a drink only to find that there was no bar. Really enjoyed the full buffet breakfast which was served until 10am.
