“Cool but not intimidating”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed January 18, 2013

Spent 4 nights at QT in early January with my husband and 2 kids. We had the king suite, which has a separate bedroom and fold-out bed in the living area for the kids. Much roomier than the photos suggest, with a large bathroom and additional powder room in the entry. The hotel is trying pretty hard for that LA cool vibe, and pretty much succeeds. It's also only 1 block from the beach and an easy stroll into Surfers. Concierge was always helpful and the lemonade stand in the lobby with complementary lemonade was a nice touch. It was very busy while we were there - of course, peak season - and the pool is a bit small to cope with that many guests. We didn't really mind - went with the kids first thing in the morning, which suited us well. Ate at both the on-site Japanese and Bazaar restaurants and we were all impressed. Mid-way through our stay we were asked to move from the 4th to the 11th floor, to exactly the same room, as a favour to the hotel. It was a bit of a pain to be honest, as I had to return to the hotel, pack all our stuff up, and was then left waiting for over 30 mins for someone to help with the bags. When they didn't show up I just decided to get the new key myself and move everything on my own. To be fair, I did agree to move and the hotel kindly included breakfast at Bazaar for us the next day (worth $100), so I have to say this was handled fairly well. We would probably stay again as it's particularly good value for money - although the number of heavily tattooed young couples, with the men looking like mafia and the women in teeny gold bikinis, was a little strange. But I think that's the Gold Coast in general these days!

To all the lovely trip adviser fan. My bf and I traveled to Queensland in November for 3 days. Decided to try out QT. It's very new, modern, clean, room was spaces, Staff was very nice and Very close to everything. Parking is extra $$ but was a very safe underground parking. The only minor problem was there are not enough staff on at anytime. If your like me and more relax and don't like to be bothered by staff and tour guide then this is the place to stay. But if your the kind of person that like 100% customer service well I'm telling you now that you not going to get it!!

Tip: There is complimentary lemonade for every booking please please say yes if they ask to get the lemonade sent to your room on arrival because I never got my lemonade. Until this day I still want my lemonade.

I stayed here for 3 days for a conference and would definitely recommend it. It is totally different to the normal 5 star hotel with great decor and the staff in cool outfits. The baraccuda buffet was excellent, normally I would avoid a buffet at all costs but they cooked items to order and the food was great quality. The only downside that I could see was that the gym was pretty basic and was furbished with old equipment.

It was great to stay in a hotel with a point of difference, from the brightly dressed staff to the brightly decorated rooms. Beds were very comfy and the lemonade after arrival a great touch. Great views even on the Hinterland side.

We stayed in a basic room for 5 nights. Room was clean and ready even when we arrived before 9am. Staff were very friendly and happy to help. Breakfast was delicious and offered an amazing selection- freshly made omelettes were a hit. The voucher for Stingray bar included in our packaged was appreciated when it was too hard to tear ourselves away from the pool for a snack. Dinner at Bazaar was good however was disappointed by the dessert chef on the Sunday night (a few lollies in ice-cream) which differed from a friends experience on a Saturday night where the dessert chef was a bit more gourmet. Overall I would recommend to those who enjoy staying by the pool and eating good food while avoiding Caville Ave.

Dear wilsy2989,

That was a wonderful and comprehensive review. Over five days you really get a real feel for the place, and see whether or not the service and product is consistent. It is really awesome that we hit the mark!

Thanks for the notes on Bazaar and Stingray. So sorry to hear that the dessert was not to our usual standard! I would have been disappointed to as the dessert is absolutely my favourite part of the meal!

Thanks again,

Sas

This was the most exciting hotel we have stayed in. Our teenagers are difficult to impress, but this delighted them at every level. The warm, welcome greeting as we walked in the cool and casual vibe of the concierge made them very approachable. The decor evoked a real holiday atmosphere with the foyer filled with colour and retro-new age artworks. The rooms were exactly like the pictures on the Internet-no disappointment here. There was a selections eateries to cater for all customers and budgets. We enjoyed a complimentary drink - would have been better if it was one per night though. Had a fun family ride on their complimentary retro bikes along the Esplanade and an hilarious tennis match on one of the tennis courts on site. The Location was ideal, being within an easy stroll to the beach and the Surfer's Mall. Parking was reasonable and easy to access. Can't wipe the smile from my face and well definitely be telling everyone about this fantastic family hotel.

Read some positive reviews on this hotel but after staying there for 2 nites, I would said it is just an average hotel. Nice and modern decor with friendly staff. The toilet in the hotel room was abit small. The sink was very annoying, the water keep splashing out when u use it. The carpark was very run down and the location was quite far from the beach.
