5 of 5 stars Reviewed December 8, 2012

My wife and I stayed at the QT last weekend. We particularly enjoyed the pool with its swim up bar, the bazaar restaurant for dinner, and the proximity to the beach and Cavill Ave. My felt we received very good value for money.

The QT hotel on the Gold Coast is full of surprising delights. The decor is modern and funky, the rooms are large and comfortable and the hotel has a chic ambience.

The Bazzar restaurant resembles a Provendor's store and not Is not only impressive to wander through and be amazed by the variety of fare on offer, the quality of the meals are second to none.

Add to this, the friendly and attentive staff and the complimentary jug of home-made lemonade delivered to your room on arrival.

The location is also a plus, one block from the beach and a short five minute stroll into the restaurant precinct of Surfers Paradise.

All in all a wonderful experience for holiday makers and business travelers alike.

One stay and you will be back for more. I know I will.

Room Tip: The higher up the better the views, and ask for an ocean view room.

I could not fault this hotel in any area. The service was excellent, the facilities were excellent, the food was excellent and the spa (I had a body scrub and facial) was outstanding also. I will be going back! Thanks

Room Tip: King size ocean view room was lovely.

A really nice hotel,as soon as you walk in you can't help but notice the funky style of the place, the rooms are well appointed and are quirkily decorated. Rooms are a good size and all have a balcony with sea or river views. My only gripe is the wifi is expensive. The beautiful beach is about 2mins walk away.

I was here for only 2 nights as part of a conference within the hotel. Location-wise it's about 150 meters from the beach and an easy stroll into the main 'tourist' stretch of Surfers Paradise. I understood from the concierge that it's about 10 minutes by cab to more classy, mature restaurants (the main strip in SP is heavily pubs and pizza places) but time didn't permit the trip.

Overall, the hotel is quite nice. Very modern and bright with a 'funky' feel to it. The staff are for the most part quite helpful, although some times I detected a sense of attitude that they were 'too cool' to deal with a guest. Thankfully that was in the minority. Check in was quite seamless, and although I turned down the offer for an in-room lemonade, was a nice idea.

The rooms are modern and bright and echo the 'cool' vibe from the hotel overall. Very comfortable, beds are nice, bathroom well equipped and good sized TV. My room also had an outdoor balcony which offered a slight view of the seaside (1601). I suspect if you are on the other side of the hall you have a great view of the beach.

The bar/restaurant choices are also quite fine, we hung out a couple of times at the lounge bar Stingray which we understood got quite busy on weekends. When we were there the staff were mostly attentive (sometimes again demonstrating the 'too cool' attitude, but that's life...) and the food was good.

If there was one thing that I would change is that they have all this cool, modern ideas going through the place, but then once you are in your room, everything is paid extra. Internet access - $18 per day. Bottle of water - $4. Nespresso machine in room (quite nice) - capsule $2. It's a psychological thing, but I'd rather pay $15/20 more per night, and then when in the room see things like 'Need Internet. No worries, it's on us'. Or 'Whew, it's hot out there. Take a drink of water on us'. Sure I'm paying for it in the room rate, but if you've already booked the place, it means you accept the rate and then just want to feel welcome once you are there. I have the chance to travel a fair bit for work, and most of the new modern places have these things included. Oh - and I'm not sure why but the coffee cafe on the ground floor only opens at 8. I don't get that as a lot of people need an earlier start to the day than that and would love a coffee/bagel to start it off if they are in a rush.

Overall, a nice experience. Soften the attitude a bit (one of the American guys working behind the check in was much more keen to be on the computer than help with a restaurant suggestion; luckily his Aussie female colleague jumped in and was a star) and we're good to go.

Stayed at the QT for a night and two days, on business. King room on the 12th floor with a city view.

Bright and fresh and clean room, with a flair for the modern. Reasonable bed, bedding and sleep quality. Pretty small vanity in the bathroom which was quite a squeeze. Ditto for the coffee making facility. Freshly brewed cofee and quite an array of goodies available for a price. Bring your own coffee sachets, if you don't want to pay for the Nespresso! The room service menu was good with plenty of choices and the room service staff were pleasant and efficient.

Seemed to be a busy hotel, and the staff at the reception ranged from warm and friendly to coldly professional, depending on the time of day and luck of the draw. I believe that this seems to be a recurring observation among many reviews on TripAdvisor.

Good location, minutes to the beach and restaurants........but then again, this is the norm rather than an exception with quite a few hotels in the vicinity of Surfers Paradise.

A good business stay.
