“The lagoon is breathtaking”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 5, 2013 via mobile

I've stayed at the Marriott 3 times now. I love the lagoon and waterfall and the cave with spa and waterslide. Its beautiful. The day spa is fabulous I had a hot stone massage and a facial. Great service.
The hotel staff are really friendly and helpful.
Suggested improvements - free wifi in guest rooms not just in the lobby and the food for room service is not very nice.

Here on business and very impressed wi the facilities. How cool to have a faux salt water lagoon with fish and rental snorkeling gear. I thought initially that this was probably a "kid" thing but quickly realized that more adults were drawn to the idea. Beautiful grounds and water park leaves me wondering why lots of other hotels haven't installed the same kind of facility. This area als provides several areas for lounging comfortably with a drink and a book. Super clean rooms well decorated and comfortable. A little warm some nights and if you don't mind listening to the ocean you can open the door to your personal balcony. Internet cafe provides 4 computers and an area to hookup your own device while enjoying a snack or drink. Breakfast was great but expensive at $38 for the buffet. Ocean view rooms available. Road construction in front of hotel will
cause a litle inconvenience when turning in. Friendly staff and always helpful. Would come back if I were to visit the area again.

Stayed for one night over weekend with husband. Service in all parts was excellent. Room was quite warm overnight as the air con is fixed at 20 degrees at the lowest temp. There isn't a fan and to have the balcony door open was noisy. Breakfast was very overpriced for what we saw and wanted, so ventured out to local restaurant. If you want to feast at Breakfast, then I'm sure it's worth it! Alcohol was pricey too but bar and atmosphere made up for that. Ate at Benihana Japanese restaurant which was delicious and fun part of the stay. Beautiful hotel and surrounds. Only 20 min walk to shops along the esplanade.

It is nice to hear that you enjoyed your experience at the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa and were able to get away for a relaxing break.

Our breakfast buffet offered in Citrique is $36.00 per person Monday - Saturday and $39.00 on Sundays however there is also an a la carte menu option available in the restaurant which our team should have offered to you. Our coffee shop, Java+ also offers light breakfast options starting from $9.00.

When reviewing the beverage list in our restaurants and bars, we ensure that we are in line with what other 5 star properties are offering. Glad that you enjoyed the atmosphere in our Lobby Lounge Bar. It really is a beautiful space with views over looking the resort's landscaped gardens and lagoon area.

Benihana is always an entertaining night as the teppanyaki chefs love putting on a show for all of our guests as they prepare your meal in front of you.

Thank you for your kind comments and we look forward to welcoming you back soon.

I have stayed at the Marriott many times over the years and always look forward to returning.sometimes there has been a few problems with minor things like door keys not working properly, but management has always made amends for the inconvenience with nice gestures such as a bucket of Corona beers.

The Japanese teppanyaki restaurant Benihanas is awesome, although expensive.

The main restaurant has an excellent seafood buffet which is all you can eat for around $37, and has the best oysters, prawns, smoked salmon, crab, sushimi etc. Then after you finish that its time to attack all the beautiful desserts!

Room Tip: I prefer an ocean view room as when in the Gold Coast its good to immerse yourself in the beach atmo...

We truly appreciate your loyalty to Marriott over the years and thank you for your support of the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa.

While there are always areas where as a team we can improve, we are extremely committed to ensuring all of our guests have a fantastic experience while at our resort and leave with a positive impression of Marriott.

Benihana is always a favourite, especially for some of our local guests who often celebrate special occasions such as birthdays with family and friends at the restaurant. It is great that you had the opportunity to experience our Seafood Buffet at Citrique too. Our Executive Chef sources local produce where possible and often visits the local trawlers for the freshest prawns. The Seafood Buffet is priced at $65.00 per person for lunch on weekends, and from $72.00 per person for dinner mid week.

We thank you again for your kind comments and look forward to seeing you again soon.

Close to the Northern end and convenient for those going to the theme parks, the hotel is located on the main highway. Although there is road works going on for the train line to Brisbane, one can hardly feel there is something going on.

Excellent buffet breakfast, spacious rooms with views of the ocean. Even the Hinterland views from the common areas was fantastic! And free parking!!

Room Tip: For views of the ocean, you would pay a little more. However the Hinterland view is very charming wi...

We stayed on the 11th floor overlooking the pool. Unfortunately, the room smelt like smoke which caused a problem with children asthma. When I told the staff, they offered a dehumidifier which worked a little but no offer of a room change. Previous visits to the hotel we have had far better rooms, I believe because we booked through a booking company that these were the cheaper rooms. Service was fine, breakfast and dinner always excellent, but overpriced. There were multiple dead fish in the swimming pool which had to be removed. Not pleasant.

Thank you for choosing to return once again to the Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa.

I am glad that you enjoyed your dining experiences in Citrique. Our Seafood Buffet is definitely one of the best offerings on the Gold Coast with a variety of fresh seafood available along with a selection of exotic Asian dishes, European classics, wood fired pizzas, roast meats and beautiful desserts all made in our Pastry Kitchen.

I am sorry to hear that you were disappointed with certain aspects of your stay this time and we appreciate you providing feedback for our review.

The majority of our guest rooms and suites are non smoking and I do apologise that due to the hotel's high occupancy that evening we did not have another non smoking room that we could move you to. Please be assured that no matter what booking channel is used, whether direct or online via another booking company, we do our upmost to ensure that requests and guest preferences are met wherever possible when allocating rooms.

We do have Water Technicians at the resort who are responsible for maintaining our lagoon and waterscape area on a regular basis throughout the day but I am truly sorry for the unpleasant experience during your stay.

We hope that you will give us the opportunity to regain your faith in our resort and look forward to welcoming you and your family back to the resort one day soon.

I was SO excited when we "scored" this property on a "mystery" deal - they say anticipation 99% of the experience! Check in was smooth, lovely receptionist, & allocated room 409. YES bottom level of accommodation! Having just been told by the receptionist "Oh, I see you've booked one of our LOVELY ocean view balcony rooms". I left reception hoping for the best. Upon opening the door we were hit with a smell that can only be described as "old people" - I am truly sorry for being politically incorrect but you ALL know EXACTLY what I am talking about! The balcony was a noisy, very public (visible to EVERY room on EVERY floor above) courtyard that was in much need of "love". We made a very quick decision to return & ask if there was ANY possibility of another/higher room.
Reception was AGAIN a good experience and after a VERY short wait we were allocated another room on the 18th floor. This room was far better in "aroma" & view of the "lovely, green" lagoon pool. However, the "interesting" paint job on the shower recess floor had begun to peel & the mould around the shower area was well and truly "alive & kicking". The air conditioner has a minimum set of 20 deg C which results in "stuffiness" in the room during the night, as there is no fan over ride to keep the air circulating. Then there is the fact that some of us from colder climates need it cooler to sleep at night! This would probably not be an issue if you could leave the doors open onto the balcony but highway noise & local "hoonie boys" prohibited this.
Room service pizza was under cooked & hence soggy/gluggy resulting in a trip out for dinner. Staff were apologetic & we were NOT charged for the pizza.
Breakfast was another debacle. H.U.G.E. queue stretching all the way to reception JUST to get inside the breakfast restaurant. After waiting 15 mins I approached restaurant front of house staff & was advised there would be at least another 20-30 min wait to enter the restaurant. We then went around to the cafe at the front of the hotel & waited & waited & waited & waited some more. We went to a nearby cafe,"Limes" on Chevron Island, in the end and had an amazing cooked breakfast with brilliant service all within 20 minutes! Suggest you get room service, go to "Limes" or ??go down super early??. Maybe we just needed breakfast at a bad time???
Checkout was another good reception experience - well done Louise!
Will we stay again - definitely N.O.T. There is way too much competition at Broadbeach, at comparative prices, for me to ever head back here.

Room Tip: Stay elsewhere

Firstly, I would like to thank you for commending our Front Office Team on the excellent service you received throughout your stay, in particular upon check-in - I am very glad to hear that we were able to allocate another room on a higher floor for you that was much more suitable.

It is disappointing to read that the rest of your experience at our resort was not as positive, and I want to take this opportunity to apologise that on this occasion, our resort did not meet your expectations.

Our guest rooms were remodelled as part of the resort's latest refurbishment which was completed in October 2011 and our bathrooms are to be upgraded in the very near future. At the resort, we take pride in our sustainability initiatives, one of which is limiting the air conditioning temperature set point to a reasonable 20'C however our Engineering Department can definitely override this upon request. I apologise that you were not made aware of this during your stay. The air conditioning units also have three individually selectable fan speeds as well as an automatic function for our guest's comfort.

We have noted your comments in regards to the quality of your meal ordered through Room Service and have addressed this with our Director of Food & Beverage for his attention as this is definitely not to our usual high standard.

Our breakfast period is very popular with our local and in house guests, especially on weekends. It is very disappointing to hear that you did not have the opportunity to experience our breakfast offering due to the lengthy wait to be seated on this particular day, and this is not acceptable. As a team, we have made amendments to the procedures to ensure that this situation is not repeated and appreciate you bringing this to our attention.

We do hope that you may choose to stay with us again so that we can regain your confidence in our resort. I would be grateful if you can make contact with me when you are planning another stay on the Gold Coast or visit to one of our restaurants so that I can ensure you have a very positive experience.
