“Great experience, average food.”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed August 25, 2013

Having never experienced teppinyaki before, we were very pleased with this dining experience.
The chef was very entertaining with some good jokes, impressive knife skills and great cooking techniques.
The food was good, however for the price - nothing special and the taste was quite simple.
The performance definitely makes up for this though, so if you have never been to a teppinyaki before, we would highly reccommend you to try this place out.

“Good food and good entertainment from Interactive Chef”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 22, 2013

Check tripadvisor for a good japanese restaurant while in gold coast and selected a few. Finally decided on KooKoo Teppanyaki and Lounge Bar as it is nearest to our hotel. Nice cosy place with 2 very entertaining chefs. The set meals were for 2 but as there were only 3 of us we were allowed to order 1 full set & 1 half set.
Food was cooked right in front of us and at times we were participating in the cooking process or rather feeding process lol. The 3 sauces provided goes very well with the food and instead of having half a bowl of rice I finished the whole bowl in no time!
Great place for nice meal with good friends and the price is good too.

“Surprised by other reviews, couldn't be happier :)”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed August 20, 2013 via mobile

Loved this place, the staff could not have been more helpfull, she suggested food even saying not to order more as it would be enough for 3 even though it said for 2, the teppenyaki chef was great, super entertaining and I just loved the food, best teppenyaki I've had!! we had the meat and seafood and the fried rice, we all really enjoyed it and my 1 year old loved the show...highly recommend, will be back :)

“Be aware of the service”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 27, 2013

There were 12 of us booked for a 40th Birthday, and we took a cake to be presented. The chef had completed and we were eating our food, when they started to clear the table. We had not finished our meals and drinks. Told that a table had been setup upstairs for us, and could we please move upstairs, and they would bring up the drinks. Being mistakenly obliging, went upstairs, no table available, Complained, and got no where. The kitchen had not even prepared the cake. Suspect from reading other reviews, that Mama San(elderly hostess), does not want large groups. Pity, as at the timer it ruined the birthday, but we found another place to celebrate the birthday, and that was enjoyable. Would never go back.

“Entertaining, delicious & cheap cocktails!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 17, 2013 via mobile

Went on a Tuesday night but was still quite full. Had the gold platter. Highlights were the steak and prawns.

Loved the entertaining tricks and humour of the chef. So much more exciting than just an excellent dinner.

$10 cocktails!! And these are seriously strong cocktails that were exceptionally made. More than your money's worth.
