Description: Vapiano is a pizza, pasta and salad bar where food is made to order in front of you. The restaurant offers a dining experience that combines fast food with modern Italian decor and fresh Aussie produce. Whenever possible, Vapiano sources ingredients from within 150km, including growing its own herbs, and making its own pasta and pizza from scratch every day. Fresh food shouldn't cost the Earth and so there's nothing on the menu at Vapiano for more than $20. Pizza and pasta is priced between $13.90 And $19.90, With salads ranging from $7.90 To $13.90. Homemade 'dolci' desserts including panna cotta and tiramisu are also available. How does the concept work? It's a simple system where you can dine at your own pace. When you arrive you'll be given a card, which works like a tab - keeping track of everything you order. Here's what to do: 1) Head to a pasta, pizza, or salad station & place your order with the chef 2) Touch your card on the black screen & watch as the chef cooks your dish 3) When you're ready to leave take your card to the till & pay

“A great location and layout with a twist!”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 29, 2013

We arrived early as were dining with Children and were lucky enough to sit in one of the best seats in the house, looking over Cavill Av and watching the street performers with the ocean in the background.

Staff and chefs alike were very friendly and courteous. The 'payment card' system is a fantastic idea for this type and size of venue. Works exceptionally well in my opinion.

The experience of watching the chefs prepare your meal fresh in front of your eyes is great and it clearly shows in the taste and flavours of the food. And being able to add a fresh condiment or topping to your pizza is also great.

We enjoyed it so much we visited twice during our week long stay at Surfers Paradise and between our family we sampled pasta dishes, antipasto platters, pizza's and calzone. Was all fantasic.

The Bruschetta was beautiful (something done by many restaurants poorly) and whilst I loved some of the Pizza's the Calzone plus Chilli was my favourite dish.

Will definately return next time I'm on the Gold Coast.

“Good but a little stressful for the single diner”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 26, 2013

Loved the layout, and location. Plenty of room and well presented. Good friendly and attentive staff, explained the card system well, service good and no attitude.

Like all beeper places, dining solo can be a bit stressful when it's time to get your meal, leaving your table unattended. It was a nice quick service so I got back to my table promptly but was still glancing back at it all the while to make sure nothing was disturbed or anything. Sad, I know, but it's the world we live in these days.

Good restaurant and highly recommended.

“Great Concept & Location”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 24, 2013

We went there on our first night in Surfers and were all equally impressed. They have a system where they give everyone a card that you book your meal & drinks on then pay at the end. You ordered your meal at the food bar, and got your own drinks. Wide variety of pastas, pizzas and salads, with fresh condiments on the table. The food was great (we had pizzas) and the atmosphere was buzzing. However there was no table service, but that suited us fine! Would definitely visit again

“Great place to eat!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed April 20, 2013

Beautiful place, great food, friendly staff...
What else can you ask for?
Every day we walked along the beach from Broadbeach, to have lunch at Vapiano. We enjoyed freshly made pasta with sauce to suit our personal taste and fresh basil on the table. They also serve the best antipasto I've ever had!
With the best view in Surfers Paradise this is definitely the place to go to for lunch or dinner, or both!

“Excellent concept - food and ambience”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed April 17, 2013

Went to Vapiano for a meal on a Saturday night. This isn't probably the best night to go as very busy but were seated quickly at a window seat.
The concept of getting an individual card to book your meal to was unique and actually a great idea, especially if you are with friends. You don't have to worry at the end about splitting the bill, you just pay what you have put onto your card.
You go up to a very well organised kitchen like counter and order your entre which is made in front of you. It is then up to you when you want to have your main meal, so can be as quick or as extended as you like. You go up and order your main meal, again like the entre it is made in front of you. The pizza's took a little longer but the pasta was instant and the helpings were amazing - small tip, probably not a good idea to order an entre - the main meals were huge.
The only draw back is there is no table service except to have your plates cleared but for a fun night out or a quick snack, it was a great venue. The concept and organisation in the kitchen area was amazing. Would definitely go back.
