“Atrocious...”
1 of 5 stars Reviewed July 11, 2012

Atrocious, horrendous, filthy, 70’s nightmare is a few adjectives to describe this overpriced disgrace that we purchased via QANTAS holiday packages. Broken toilet seat, no plug for kitchen sink, torn curtains, rusted appliances in bathroom in addition to long strips of paints peeling from bathroom ceiling, mould in shower. Living room despite having pleasant views, it was difficult to see thought the filth of the windows which haven’t been cleaned since the apartment was filled with dolphin decor in the late 70’s. Worst accommodation experience in a long time and we travel locally and interstate regularly.

I recently stayed here for the 2nd time and had a perfect stay. The view from the balcony was great. The room has a full kitchen with full cooking facilities if you're on a budget, it has a detailed compendium for room service if you have a higher budget. The bathroom also has full laundry facilities too.

The staff are very helpful and friendly. It is so close to the beach, the shops and the supermarkets. Everything is within walking distance. The bus stops to the theme parks or to other areas are all only a short walk,.

There is an indoor and outdoor pool, both nice to relax in.

Room Tip: Be sure to ask what is available. The helpful staff will get you the best room for your needs.

I booked this apartment as part of a Webjet package for 5 nights over Christmas 2011.On arrival I was offered an apartment on the 12th floor- an apartment furnished in the 70's , with no evidence of any further updating. The bathroom/laundry was very old and laminex lifting, carpet threadbare and lounge sagged to the wooden frame when sitting on it.I was told that the photos on the website are not from one apartment but a number of apartments( making the apartment look better than it really is). After a long discussion( and being told they were fully booked), I was finally offered a refurbished apartment on the 4th floor. Luckily, I had family at the Q1 where I spent most of my holiday.

Room Tip: Check room before payment

The negatives first.
I booked directly on Quarterdeck's website and requested a refurbished apartment. When we checked in we were surprised to find that the fittings were quite ancient. If this apartment had been refurbished, we could not see what had actually been renewed. Finally we decided that maybe the floor tiles had been replaced at some stage. The bathroom and kitchen fittings were very old and the bed should have been replaced many years ago. Curtains were tatty and the carpeted areas were badly stained.
The plastic flowers in the bedroom were downright tacky.
The large figure of a pirate in the front yard made me cringe. I hoped that no-one saw us entering or leaving this apartment block.
Now the positives.
Excellent location, very close to the beach and all the action of Surfers.
It was very quiet while we were there.
Free underground parking.
General comments.
It was much cheaper than the surrounding apartments. You get what you pay for, as the old saying goes.
We had reasonably good views, but it was certainly like being in a fish bowl. People in other apartment blocks did not close their curtains in the bedroom and we really did not want to look at them sleeping in at breakfast time. We ended up having to shut our curtains for some privacy.
Would I stay there again.....no.

Room Tip: Choose somewhere else - pay a bit more for a newer apartment.

This was our 2nd visit to Quarterdeck Aprtments. It's an extremely fantastic location & good price. Staff were very friendly & where so helpful with directions, tour information & general chit-chat.
My family & my sisters family stayed in 2 different apartments & they were completely different (furnished). My sisters was slightly larger & more modern than mine, but ours was still nice. Apartments & building is older style but overall clean. Great for families on a budget & everything is so close. Indoor pool wasnt very large, more like an extremely oversized spa, but still lovely & warm & was great having the sauna in the same area.

Will definitely be visiting this hotel again.
Thanks again for great service.

Room Tip: Ask for 4th floor up for more views & a slightly revamped apartment

We only stayed at the Quarterdeck for three nights but they were three really awesome nights.

There was plenty of room, the bathroom was huge with a washing machine and dryer as well. We had a small problem with the bathroom light not working, but management fixed it quickly.

You can't beat the location. It was close to everything and straight across from the Vomatron!

The only thing I would suggest they change is the curtain in the bathroom, even though the glass in the window is frosted, it still doesn't feel all that private with the flimsy curtain.

Overall, great hotel!

When we entered the appartment it smelled of urine. The furture was old, the kitcken laminex top was lifting, the curtains where stained and had holes in them and the shower had mould around the door. The appartment was in need of a fresh coat of paint and a repair. The only plus was that it was a large appartment and the linen was clean. It was central to the shops and attractions I read the reviews for this appartment from this website and booked due to the good reports. Dont believe them.
