“Free fun”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 10, 2013

The zoo is basic but free, great to take the kids. The botanical garden is very good and relaxing. Make sure to check the many turtles in the lake, many people miss this feature!

Well presented gardens with many exotic plants, trees etc from different countries. Small zoo attached all free to enter. Upgrade work ongoing at time of visit.

“Terrific free attraction”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 5, 2013

The gardens and zoo are a terrific free attraction that Rocky should be proud of. Great place to take the family for a fun day out or just if you want to relax by yourself. There aren't many places where you can see all these animals and the only cost is your time. I do recommend that if you do enjoy it, why not put a few dollars in the donation boxes around the zoo to help with the ongoing costs so it stays for years to come.

“Very Nice Botanical Gardens but a little disappointed with Zoo”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed October 4, 2013

We can see the potential this zoo has so hope that it's redevelopment is temporary. The botanical gardens are very enjoyable with numerous well established trees and plants. They are very well maintained and well groomed. Best of all - it's free!!!!

“Peace & relaxation”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed September 14, 2013

We recently returned to the gardens to show visitors the sites & delights. It is a shame that the work on the zoo section has come to a premature end. Our visitor had a heart problem & we planned on walking from the top to the bottom. However the bottom gate is closed off due to maintenance & we had to very slowly make our way back to the top. The ibis are still in large numbers & are making a bit of a mess. The banyan trees & kiosk area are beautiful shade areas on a warm day.
This is the best free zoo I know of & a real asset to the city. Keep up the great work. We usually try to time visits after lunch when the animals are being fed from about 2pm on. Take a picnic or bbq for lunch & enjoy the peaceful setting prior to making your way through the zoo. Birds, snakes, kangaroos, emu, koalas, wombats, chimps, macaws, dingos & more birds before you end up at the lagoon where you can feed the ducks & turtles. Enjoy it this school holidays.
