“Okay but Noisy”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed August 5, 2012

We stayed at the Edge for a Saturday night in July. The two bedroom apartment we booked was ready when we arrived at midday which was very useful.ment The apartment was large and clean with a great view of the river. We had dinner in the restaurant which was fine although prices are the same as Brisbane.
Unfortunately our short stay was marred by a very noisy party in the apartment next door with the smell of the smoke and the noise from the music penetrating our apartment. To be fair the management did their best to stop it but it took a long time.
We had a very good ala carte breakfast the next day although it took a long time to come.
The Edge is not cheap but for a short stay is okay and hopefully we were just unlucky with the disturbance

Booked in for one night with my husband and infant. Rooms are advertised as the most luxurious in Rockhampton but the YMCA would undoubtedly be better. No hot water in entire apartment. Night manager came up to inspect. She was extremely rude and tried to convince us that water at 31*c is standard. I had my baby's bath thermometer and it struggled to even reach 31'c. Especially after a long, cold, wet Winter's July day 31*c really isn't that warm to shower in. My baby was so cold after his bath. Wont be staying here at such "luxury" apartments again. Very unprofessional and unwelcoming. Not worth the Luxury price tag either!

Stayed here for work and the rooms are nice and big and decked out nicely. No minibar was a pain but overall it was an enjoyable stay.

What a great apartment, plenty of room, wonderful balcony overlooking river, plenty of light, everything you need in an apartment. Reverse cycle airconditioners in living area and bedroom. Comfort plus. The newer apartments now seem to have only two burner stove tops, convection microwave ovens or just microwaves, always a dishwasher. We stayed three nights, one night was woken asking to deliver a meal we had not ordered and then were charged for it, but immediately refunded when pointed out it was not our order. Then another night a lovely young receptionist asked if she could come in and see our airconditioners which we had heating up our apartment. She then turned them to cool airconditioning and asked us to leave them for an hour, but after the horrified look in my face, suggested half an hour. Apparently airconditioners must be tied in with one or two other units and perhaps ours was on the hot side. However I did think 'what the?' These incidents were insignificant in the pleasure of staying at this accommodation. The lorikeets nest in the trees over the road, but we just enjoyed taking photos of them and once doors were closed we were not really aware of any noise from outside.

Have to say I travel and stay at a lot of places around Australia with my work, and the Edge is one of the best places that I love to stay at. The staff are always very friendly and they always make me feel welcome. The restaurant is good too. Bit "pricey" but usually a good meal. Hard to get in some times so best to book in advance (although having said that I've never been turned away as yet!).
Haven't used the pool but looks nice. Used the gym, not a lot of equipment, but has treadmills and a rower etc so that's pretty much all you need for a quick workout.
Undercover and secure parking, whihc is always a good thing.
Rooms are excellent (apartments that is). I've had someone else from our company advise me that they didn't enjoy just the standard room bed. But mine has always been fantastic in the appartments. Iron is good, a must for a business traveller like myself. Heaps of space in the apartments rooms which is always a good thing.
The ladies cleaning the rooms always stop and say hello when you see them around the hotel floors or in lifts and they should be commended for being such good ambassadors for the hotel.
Really do appreciate it ladies, so thanks!
And lastly the girls on the reception are always great and that's why I keep coming back.
Well done to all and see you all again this week!
Michael

I stay here for work. In my opinion it's the nicest hotel in Rockhampton. The 1 bedroom apartments are amazing. They have a full kitchen, laundry and are very spacious. The hotel rooms are also nice, however are substantially smaller.

1st floor 1b/r apt (105) facing the river which unfortunately does not afford much of a view due to the high concrete wall on the patio.

The Edge appears to be one of those buildings that you go thru an outer door which then becomes 2 separate apts. OK it you have someone sharing the other apt as you can keep doors open as the main one is locked but this was like take a cut lunch to get from one door to the other waste of space plus in those confines when the other peeps were leaving their apt no consideration shown & doors slamming (ohh how i hate that) as they came & went.

Apt still very new looking , very large & modern. All the necessary mod cons tho the TV was smaller than one we have in our bedroom & no 2nd TV in the bedroom. One of the largest patios cld not call it a balcony as it was so huge. 6 seater table & chairs + 2 sun lounges. Not very private as only a slatted fence dividing you & next apt.

Free secured parking albeit a bit tight for some larger cars

Restaurant & bar on site did not dine but had a drink at the bar. Bar prices in line with most establishments of this ilk but restaurant was a bit pricey.

The only issue we found r the trees out the front on the river now while they are lovely during the day at night come dusk they bcome a haven for just about anything that can fly & the noise was undescribable. We were sitting out on the patio watching TV but had to come inside & close the doors.
Mostly they were greenies, crows & bats the greenies & the crows were trying to outdo each other in who could squark the loudest. We thought omg what is the morning going to bring when the crows start up but without to much of a sound they moved on come daybreak.

Good location & very cordial staff who would greet you when passing through reception.

Thought prices were a bit expensive for Rockhampton
