“Excellent Place to Stay with all your needs met”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 14, 2013

We decide last minute to visit the Great Barrier Reef and chose this accommodation based on Tripadvisor reviews. I was amazed at the quality of the room and although we had booked the Studio we had been upgraded to a one bedroom apartment. It is immaculately clean a regular home from home The fixtures and fittings are good quality and they even give you a starter kit for tea coffee washing up liquid and refuse bags. Although we didn't use it the fact there was a micro wave, washing machine and dryer available in the apartment had we stayed longer I would have made use of it. Julie and Gavin are always at hand to give you information and when we arrived Gavin gave us several leaflets on things to see before showing us our apartment. It is both close to the beach and local restaurants. It is also reasonably priced. This is one place I would return to if ever we came that way again.

“Amazing stay at the Queenslander”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 13, 2013

We spent two nights at the Port Douglas Queenslander and we were very pleased with the choice. We stayed in a two bedroom apartment which we found to be bright and immaculately clean. The front door opened into a dining / living area with a table, couches and a TV. There was porch off of the living area with its own table and chairs. We had two bedrooms, one with its own heat pump and both with ceiling fans. The bathroom was large and included a washer and dryer which we put to use. We were in week 2 of our trip and it was great to have the option of washing our clothes. The kitchen was small, but well stocked with pots and pans and even a dishwasher.

The hosts were great. Both were friendly and were helpful with options for activities in Port Douglas. You can make bookings through the hotel and there are dozens of brochures to look through to plan your stay.

The hotel has a pool and a BBQ area.

Although the apartments are not on the main road, the main street, the wharf and the beach are all about 10 minute walks away. This means that the apartments are quiet, but it is easy to get to everything. The supermarket was a bit of a further walk as it is on the opposite corner of the town.

As these are self-catered apartments, there isn’t daily linen service and you are expected to provide some basics such as toilet paper yourself after you use the initial stock the staff provide in the rooms. There are also rules about noise on the balconies at night which are for the good of everyone since the balconies are unfortunately right next to bedrooms.

The only unfortunate part about the apartments is the layout. I don’t know why the architect put the bedroom right next to the balcony such that your neighbors could look right into your bedroom if the blinds were open. Our second bedroom had windows that opened into the inside courtyard and were next to the internal hallway.

Overall, an excellent stay in Port Douglas and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the Queenslander.

“Highlight of our Trip”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 8, 2013

Spent 6 nights at the start of our trip here. Julie and Gavin were very helpful in booking our tours and charming to talk to. We were able to BBQ one night by the pool, which was great fun despite our lack of skills, and spent our days wandering between the main street, the beach, and our apartment since they were so close together. There was plenty of pots and pans for cooking and complete kitchen, so we were able to eat in most meals which was great. We even loved watching the large fruit bats that live in the tree across the street every evening.

I would recommend the Queenslander to anyone considering staying in Port Douglas. We all agreed after the fact we should have spent our whole vacation here rather than continuing on to Sydney!

“lovely place”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed January 5, 2013

Myself and a friend stayed here in the middle of October 2012. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the queenslander . The apartment had every thing that we could think of needing and more . The pool area was lovely and peaceful. Julie was a wonderful host who was always around to help us and answer our questions. The hotel is only a 5 minute walk from the main street with plenty of choice for food. The only problem we had were with the fruit bats but that couldn't be helped :)
