Having stayed in Port Douglas many times at many different properties this one has to come out on top for ticking ALL the boxes . The location is perfect , a short 2 minute walk to the beach , enjoy a fantastic breackie or coffee at The Beaches Cafe and lunch at The Lifesavers cafe , both really good and right on the beach , so lovely to have a coffee after a morning stroll on the beach and watch the sun rise over the sea . 5 minute walk to town for restaurants and shopping and a 5 to 10 minute walk to the marina . So easy . We had a 2 bedroom apartment , both bedrooms had an en-suite and were beautiful . Extremely clean and had everything you'd need including a large balcony with a lovely sofa , easy chair and table and chairs . The pool was crystal clean all the time , great BBQ area . This place is definitely one that I'd come back to without hesitation . The beds were super comfy and the pillows and linen smooth and clean .
They do offer free WiFi which was dreadfully slow and really more frustrating than anything . Also they offer free local calls but neither of the phones in the apartment had a dial tone even when I asked what number to press to get one it still didnt work , no big deal as most people have a mobile . But the one big thing that was missing that most other properties have was brollies . Most places either put a couple in the wardrobe or have a big plant pot in the entrance with loan umbrellas and when it rains in Port ....it pours . I would have rather had a brolly than the wifi and phone calls as its not something you carry on the plane . Just a little thing but definitely a small investment that would be very much appreciated .

Over all though this place is fantastic and for the price I'd recommend it to anyone , we shall certainly be coming back to this little gem

Really.
First of all- Location. Less than a minutes walk to the beautiful Four Mile Beach and direct entrance to the stinger net. Macrossan Street with all it's wonderful array of shops and restaurants is an easy stroll around the corner. Across the road is a lovely park and there is a small children's playground next to the Surf Club Restaurant.
Second- the unit itself was very well presented and clean with all the mod cons a family needs ( big screen t.v, washing machine, dryer, air con) and the kitchen was well stocked for those cooking in. Also there were plenty of towels, spare pillows and blankets.
Third- Staff were genuinely friendly and helpful. I called ahead to request a ground floor apartment as we were travelling with my elderly Mother (This also gave us a courtyard off our generous sized balcony and direct street access). This and other needs were all met, check in was seamless, help was immediately offered when I couldn't figure out the t.v/cable and excellent recommendations made for suitable restaurant choices for said elderly Mum and two kids.
Finally- The complex itself is attractive with a nicely laid out common area stocked with plenty of tourist brochures and comfy lounges that I noticed many people made use of. I was particularly impressed with the pool and bbq area which I was expecting to be a bit of a mess given that Cyclone Ita had been through two days previously but there was no sign of debris and the pool was crystal clear and ready for use... and it got plenty from my kids at least.
Mowbray By The Sea was great value for money in a fantastic location and run by friendly, motivated people who obviously take pride in their work. We will definitely return.

I strongly recommend staying here when you are in Port Douglas. The rooms are spacious and well equipped, the apartment is very comfortable and at a great central location in town. Seconds from the beach & minutes from restaurants and the big Coles supermarket. The apartments are quiet and very private.

Food in Port Douglas is often times quite expensive, and we found the great size kitchen perfectly suited to making a few easy meals. This, and being so close to the beach (and the protected swim area) meant that we strongly felt we had a better experience than if we were staying in a hotel. T

The service is also great. After checking in, we found that there was a problem with our airconditioning. After confirming it wasn't working, without hesitation we were moved into a different apartment and the staff were very helpful with this problem.

The pool at the apartment is lovely; some sections shaded or sunny at nearly all times (for your tanning or sun-sensitive needs). There is also a BBQ next to the pool that was wonderful to use.

Our only feedback would be to provide small items like salt, pepper and cooking oil, as it was frustrating having to buy these basics for our short stay. I can't imagine having a better accommodation experience in Port Douglas!

We have never stayed in an Apartment before, we normally stay in b&bs or a hotel. But we loved this!

We had all the benefits of a hotel (reception, swimming pool etc) but with the spaciousness of an apartment. It was bigger than I expected, bedroom with ensuite bathroom, a large living room with dining area, an enormous balcony, a well equipped kitchen and utility room with washing machine/tumbler dryer. Plus extras such as washing powder, beach towels provided, basic consumables in the kitchen such as milk in the fridge, tea/coffee, dishwasher/washing up liquid. The bed was very comfortable and we received all the toiletries you would expect in a hotel bathroom. The apartment was modern, spacious and spotlessly clean.

The pool is narrow and long, ideal for lane swimming, though we just went in for a cool-off. Also just at the end of the road is Four Mile Beach, the main Port Douglas beach which is life-guarded where there is also a netted off swimming section at this time of year to protect against stingers (jelly fish).

Lorna on reception was very helpful in recommending restaurants and also booked us on a snorkelling trip. You are spoilt for choice for restaurants in Port Douglas. We didn't really eat in the apartment, other than cereal for breakfast!

We had a hire car which was stored in the basement garage, they give you a key for the electric up and over door.

I thought Latitute 16 Mowbray By the Sea were very classy apartments and would recommend it for anyone looking for quality accommodation in Port Douglas.

A great balance between cost, location and facilities.

Unlike some of the other Port Douglas offerings Mowbray by the Sea is a very short stroll from the main beach, has a decent if not huge pool, and and the rooms and quite nice beach style accommodation if not spectacular.

If you've got a family the facilities will be everything you need to have a great holiday. The main street and its shops are hardly worth getting in the car for.

The service was good. The owners were very helpful although the office hours seemed relatively short and certainly shorter than resort style accommodation.

Plenty of off street parking.

Recommended and would stay there again.

Just loved our unit on the top floor. Immaculately clean and really well equipped including pool towels. These apartments are in a great location. Just a few minutes walk to the shops and the beach is practically at the door. Make sure you try the restaurant at the beach - great food

Room Tip: Ask for a lower level unit if you have little kids - there are a lot of stairs to the top floor with...

We absolutely loved the Mowbray by the Sea. Fantastic location situated between Macrossan Street and the beach - walking distance from both. Didn't need a vehicle. Macrossan Street is the main street and banking, supermarkets, restaurants, bars, etc. all within a 10 - 15 min walk of the apartment. The apartments are well appointed and Lorna and her husband who manage the property could have not been more helpful. They recommended some great tours. Beautiful pool, BBQ and entertaining facilities. Apart from the well sized apartment there's also a private balcony. Very quiet location and highly recommend it. A great little breakfast place a quick walk down the road on the corner near the beach which is very handy as well.
