“Saved by the pool”
4 of 5 stars Reviewed March 26, 2013

Hi. Just got back from 5 nights at The Pool, and was more than satisfied, especially at the price. The room was modern, the kitchen well equipped, the view across the pool of the mountains simply amazing, and the ambience only enhanced the relaxing nature of the town and the holiday. Only negatives were that as privately owned units, the curtains needed a clean and the smoke detector fixing, and that they charge for pedantic extras like toilet paper etc. Fine for us as a couple, but if another couple were sharing the 2 bdrm unit we had, 2 rolls was never going to cut it. If you want the whole lagoon experience, look elsewhere, but if you want a modern apartment with a great pool, and can be bothered driving the two minutes two town, or walking two minutes up to the main road to catch the excellent free shuttle bus service, the Pool might just be the one for you.

If you are looking for a place to wind down the the pool has it covered. Very quite location but with your own transport your just minutes away from Port Douglas Main Street. The accommodatin was lovely and very well maintened. Seep rate shower and bath was a big tick and the kitchen was well equiped. The pool is fantastic, you didn't notice the others in the pool as it was that large. When booking I reccomend requesting a bottom floor apartment, that way you can walk straight out of the living area and into the pool.

Had a great 6 day stay in Port Douglas, and found the Pool Resort generally OK and while the pool is great there are very few other facilities. The 2 x bedroom apartment we had was comfortable, but showed typical signs of been privately owned investor units which are due new blinds and a paint Job. The manageress was fantastic and very helpful and knowledgeable with organising activities in the region and took care of all the booking and backcharges to our room account. The resort is some way out of town so hire car is recommended for getting to and from the township. Overall good value compared to other resorts but you certainly get what you pay so don’t expect luxury.

Myself my husband & our 5yr old had a wonderful week at the pool apartments we stayed in a 2 bed room 43.we really did not want to come home!.
The apartment itself was "very" spacious, ours more so I think as we had an "out door area" between the two bedrooms that was totally pointless...and my gripe about this was...it didn't lock!!! And as we used this 2nd room for our son to sleep in it was "very light". Also because of this spare space we had a big top window in our bathroom that was clear glass and was covered with a sheet(if the sheet was not there people upstairs could watch you bathe :-/), a beautiful bathroom was spoilt by this.
Air conditioning in the bedrooms worked very well but once the afternoon sun hit the lounge air conditioning unit struggled, outside umbrellas would have helped with this.
So to outside, the pool was amazing and most of the time the water was sooooo warm even hot!!
Where our room was situated (room 43) on our back pool patio we had a corner 2 sides of glass whilst when clean it looked pretty we had "no privacy" what so ever! From swimmers in the pool to the right & the one of the main entrances to the pool was opposite us, again everyone who entered the pool looked right in our room. And people even congregated there to drink and so on.

Cleanliness could have been a little better, the floors threw out looked dirty although they were not as I cleaned them myself!, I pushed 2 beds together for my son and under the bed I moved it was very dirty! But easily cleaned.
Overall, it is a "better than" budget accomodation....some people who stayed there said they paid less than $100 a night, trust me we paid a lot more!! It was value for money for them...for us "not so sure"
Would I return...most defiantly!! recommend to friends & family....some of them ;-). If we were to return I would look out for a deal.

We recently stayed at the Pool Resort for 11 nights. I was concerned as we had booked online. Seriously not disappointed. We had No 7 which was a 3 bedroom appartment with a private plunge pool. Our views were the mountains and natural bushland. The birdlife in the mornings and early evenings was mesmerising. All the rooms were air conditioned and it was spotless. Once inside our apartment we had total privacy and peace.
We were greeted with friendly staff every time at the reception. You can rely on their recommendations and when we booked certain activities through the desk we were pleasantly surprised with discounts off the going rates.
Friends joined us on day 6 and there was plenty of room for everybody. The kitchen is well equipped.
We cannot wait to return and continue the many adventures yet to be had in and around Port Douglas.
Thank you Pool Resort

We stayed at the pool resort for five nights and upon arrival the staff member at the counter was extremely helpful and very friendly, great first impressions! We have a seven month old baby so the swim-up apartment was perfect for us, we could go for a swim and our baby could sleep/play and we could keep an eye on her, just what we needed! The apartment itself was a decent size and it had most the things you'd need for self catering, the furnishings were of a good standard as well!

There were however a few minor areas of detail that if they were fixed would make the pool resort one of the best resorts we've stayed at!

The first moan is the general cleanliness of our apartment, the floors were dirty, there was dust all over the place, the bathroom looked like it needed a good scrub with some bleach and the outside area was full of dried up bird poo, not nice!

The second gripe was the lack of certain things in the apartment, such as decent sized frying pan (we had to buy one as the one provided could just about fit a fried egg in it). There was no hair dryer, no tumble dryer and a clothes rack that would only hold four towels so we couldn't get everything dry! A much larger clothes rack would of been perfect and the mop was in desperate need of a new sponge!

Our final issue was the privacy, there wasn't any from the neighboring apartments. The slatted wood fencing would be much better being a closed off fence, it feels like everyone can see what everyone's doing and saying.

This isn't a bad review about the resort, we had a fantastic time and we would definitely go back as we'll as recommend it to friends and readers of this review. If the owners do read this then it's just a few things that we think would make it that little bit better!
