“Fantastic Resort!!!”
5 of 5 stars Reviewed 6 days ago NEW

We stayed here as a couple in October 2014 for 7 nights and can easily say it was one of the best holidays we have had! The resort overall is beautifully maintained with a nice on site restaurant and day spa. The pool is spectacular, great for couple or families with children. The resort itself is centrally located with a 5 minute walk to the main street, 10 minute walk to the marina where all the cruise boats leave from, and a 3 minute walk to the beach. Our apartment was huge and very clean! It had a balcony with BBQ, full kitchen facilities and laundry facilities. The room was only serviced once during our stay which was fine with us, however you can pay an additional amount to have it serviced daily. Extra pool towels are always available from reception. Staff were amazing and very friendly! This was definitely a great time of year to visit, we had perfect weather everyday and it wasn't to busy as was outside school holidays. We will definitely be back!

We just spent 10 days in a gorgeous 1 bedroom suite with lagoon view.
Spacious (actually there is a second room wit 2 sofa's), great view overlooking the
unique lagoon pool, BBQ on our private balcony. Excellent movie channels and wi-fi
for rainy days!
Excellent location as well, 3 blocks from the main PD street with shopping and food outlets.
Warmly recommended. We will definitely return to Peppers if our travels bring us back to Port Douglas!!

The hotel is an elegant yet relaxed place to stay. The staff were friendly and very helpful in arranging (and rearranging due to the weather) tours. The pool is rather unique in being a lagoon style with a white sandy beach leading into it - nice touch, especially if the real beach is off limits due to weather and stingers! The room was lovely overlooking the lagoon with a spa bath on the balcony (behind some discrete colonial style shutters). The room was compact but there was everything you'd need and the complimentary products in the bathroom were the best I've encountered - aromatherapy based, smelt divine. Really effective air con and quiet ceiling fan which were definitely necessary in the tropical heat. Fab location close to both the beach and the town - nice restaurants nearby. We also ate lunch at the hotel on one occasion and it was gorgeous. Would definitely go back and recommend it heartily.

Room Tip: We liked being on the ground floor overlooking the lagoon - some suites even have direct access, was...

Just returned from a tour of Australia and one of the highlights for me, and the whole group I was travelling with, was our stay at Peppers. We had a hectic tour schedule, but when we arrived at Peppers we were able to enjoy total relaxation. Lovely spa rooms, extremely helpful and attentive staff, nothing was too much trouble for them. Great food, a beautiful pool, and for those feeling more energetic, a short walk into town.In fact when it was time to depart, none of us wanted to leave.

My wife and I (and 12 Month old) stayed for 6 nights, and thoroughly enjoyed our time at Peppers. We had a 1 Bedroom Lagoon DLX suite, which was fantastic as the private pontoon and Barbecue on the balcony gave you plenty of reasons just to stay in your room with a couple of drinks and thoroughly relax. The rooms were well appointed, clean and modern..Six nights is a long stay and this size room was perfect for an extended break such as this. We payed extra for the breakfast option, and found the continental offerings were more than enough to get your day going(cereal/toast/fruit/ham/cheese/pastries) I found I didn't really need a full buffet style offering after having this(but of course its there if you want it for a reasonable price at Sublime)
As most of the reviews state, the pool is amazing and by far the best in PD. During peak season a little expensive, but get your timing right and you will certainly get what you pay for. A suggestion to improve your offerings to your clients would be to have a gourmet style picnic basket service for people not wanting to go out for dinner and walk out to 4mile or the Pier to watch the boats come in(Coles got a lot of my money for prawns/dips etc)

Room Tip: Stay just off season to get great value for money

We had a 6 night stay in a spa room. Great location as you can easily walk into the main street at Port Douglas with all its restaurants and shops. This is a big plus but it meant the rental car stayed in the garage for most of the time.

I had emailed the hotel a few weeks before travelling to check on wifi to be told it was ‘$29.95 for 24 hours or $59.95 for 7 days’. I thought this was a bit steep and checked via another website before we arrived to read that there was 500mg free wifi (it did not say for how long). I emailed a different email address again and it was confirmed that there was 500mg free.

Check in staff were pleasant but having given me the key (you had to pay a deposit for an extra one) no mention of wifi so I asked. I was albeit reluctantly told there was 500mg for the duration of the guests’ stay and given log in details. This should be in details handed out to you.

We had a second floor end room over looking the pool. Spa is on the balcony but the huge downside is that you are visible from the pool when you get in and out. The modesty shutter is not big enough so it was quite a challenge to get in unseen without dropping your towel in the bath! A solution would be to extend the modesty shutter by one panel which could be opened back if needs be.

Room was a decent size however; the housekeeping was nowhere near up to standard. On the first afternoon we came back to the room to find that surfaces had not been cleaned which meant that some coffee spilled on the balcony table had got sticky and was covered with ants and there was a huge hair ball in a corner near the spa bath. Empty tissue box not replaced and toiletries not replenished (half empty ones left in shower tray).

I reported this at reception and was told it would be seen to and we would have VIP treatment in the morning. I said I didn’t expect special treatment jut what we were paying for.

Room was cleaned more efficiently the following day but for the rest of the time, it was random. Some items of toiletry didn’t appear until the last day so I didn’t know they had them (vanity set). I could see that different people cleaned and I had an incline which were better than others.

The hotel was very quiet as children were back in school in Australia. The pool area was lovely and we had a choice of where to sit. I can imagine what it was like when full and would have hated it – there would not be enough sun beds in my opinion.

We didn’t have breakfast at the hotel and having walked through one morning I was glad as there was no glass cover over breakfast items and there were flies all over the food – not good. We had one evening meal which was decent enough but the place had no atmosphere.
On the last but one day I asked for the names of the people who had cleaned our room (I often tip where we have had good service). The receptionist returned with the name of one cleaner which I knew was not the case as there was a young lad cleaning the room at the time)!

This hotel could be fantastic. The location is great, pool is fabulous but it really does need to sort out the housekeeping. We pay a lot of money for hotel stays; good cleaning is not a favour – we pay for it and it should be up to the mark and consistent. If you don’t have children, I would avoid in school holidays.

Thankyou 19Nurse for taking the time to provide feedback.

Our location is perfect as you highlight being in close proximaty to the beach, shops and Restaurants. I am sorry to note your comments on the wifi and have passed them on to the relevant staff to ensure the communication is consistant on what is on offer for the guest. Note your comments on the housekeeping and advise this has been brought to the attention of the Department Manager whom has addressed this with the staff concerned. I do apologise for the lack of consistency during your stay.

Kind regards

This resort is amazing. The pool is the best in Port Douglas and the whole place is so well maintained. The rooms are gorgeous and spotlessly clean. The staff are all so friendly and helpful. I have been home 2 days and booking to go back in 6weeks for a few more days. Its a 2 minute walk to the heart of the town, however, the best meal we had was at their own "sublime" restaurant. Don't stay anywhere else. I guarantee you won't be disappointed here.

Room Tip: try to get a room on the ground floor with pool access.
